If you are from Southern California, Arizona, or even New Mexico , you are and spoiled with plenty of great Mexican eateries.
That said, finding edible Mexican food in Pacific Northwest is usually a quest more difficult than finding a dry sidewalk in November. Most of the time, you’re just paying for a lukewarm tortilla and a dream.
Then I found Mi Tierra, and hope finally returned.
To begin with, the ambiance is so authentic that I halfway expected a relative I’ve never met to walk out of the kitchen and ask why I haven’t called. The place is decorated like a Hacienda, and honestly, the décor with its rustic charm trick your taste buds into believing you’ve just crossed the border, even if it’s actually 40 degrees and raining outside.
As for the food: it’s really good.
In a land where “spicy” often just means either “we added an extra grain of black pepper,” or “we added uranium”, Mi Tierra serves actual, authentic flavor. Whether it’s the rich sauces or the well seasoned meats, eating here is a major win over the bland Mexican-food desert we call the Pacific Northwest.
Best of all, the prices are reasonable which is a real challenge in the current” economic climate where dinner for two at McDonalds is now $50. You get a massive portion of “real-deal” food without having to sell a kidney or take out a second mortgage. If you want to stop eating “tacos” that taste like sadness and disappointment and start eating like you’re on vacation, you might want to check this place out.
No passport or dinner jacket required
* pro tip:You may want to check out their menu on the Mi Tierra Official Website to plan your escape from mediocre salsa and to avoid the feeling that you are sitting for a test that you havent studied for as the wait staff can be pretty fast to take your order

Went with my daughter, son-in-law and grandkids.
Chips and salsa arrived at the table and extra refills were provided without prompting the Sta which was really nice. The kids menu was exceptional because the enchiladas ordered by the youngest were consumed without hesitation. I had the daily special 3 seafood tacos with shrimp. They were nice and full. I took one home because I was quite satisfied and look forward to the leftovers.

SUCH a good restaurant. The food was sooo flavorful, the chips and salsa were perfect, staff was friendly and attentive and the vibe of the restaurant was cool, kind of a tropical feel. We stopped in here after a hike, which of course made the food hit even better. Haha i would drive all the way from Lakewood, just to eat here. Will be back for sure.

We had an excellent dinner at Mi Tierra! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated—every bite was perfect. The staff here is always so kind, attentive, and genuinely happy to serve. You can tell they care about their customers. I wish every restaurant had this level of warmth and customer service. It’s always a pleasure coming here!

MiTiera catered our LouSkis Deli staff Christmas party. Due to a flood a jd the roads washing out we had to move the date into January. Alexis worked with us and we enjoyed a great time!

Nice Mexican restaurant in Monroe!

Decent sized parking lot that is shared with a few other businesses, and I believe I saw a sign for “additional parking below”

The interior is bright, welcoming and open. I was promptly seated at lunch time with chips, salsa and water immediately. I hadn’t been here so I need a few minutes to look over the menu. My server was not pushy or overbearing and allowed me time to browse before making a decision.

The lunch menu was very reasonably priced with lots of options for a meal at a discounted price tag.

I settled on the chicken fajitas. It was plenty of food for one sitting. Served with rice, beans, sour cream, and guac. Fresh guacamole, well seasoned rice and beans. The chicken was flavorful and tender and the veggies were grilled really nicely. They use a lot of spices so this is a more “saucy” version of fajitas.

Overall I would definitely recommend this place if in Monroe and looking for an easy, quick, delicious and cost effective lunch!

Food was amazing! Quesadilla, tacos, bacon-wrapped shrimp all tasted great. Service could be better (quicker) and there’s definitely room for efficiency improvement. I would definitely come back.

Unfortunately they have gone down hill since the last time we came here. This used to be my daughter’s favorite restaurant. We waited to be seated for 15 mins, they were not busy and at least 2 of the servers saw us multiple times. Finally got seated. They used to being bean sip with cheese automatically, but this time we had to ask. No biggie so he brought it out, but no cheese. Daughter’s hard shell tacos had no cheese, Laquita appetizer came out with our meal and were the saddest things I ever saw. Literally just unseasoned shredded chicken in a fried tortilla. Sadly, we will not be back.

Great dinner on the way to Wallace Falls State Park. Open later than most restaurants in Monroe. Great food. Great service. I got a loaded quesadilla with Carne asada.
