The setting was great, good service. Just very disappointed in the food. I ordered the shrimp cocktail. Any other shrimp cocktail I have had is usually made of shrimp, tomato juice, lime juice, orange juice, Pico de gallo and avocado. The one served to me tonight seemed to be just shrimp served in a sweet tomato sauce, (almost tasting like ketchup) with avocado and Pico de gallo. Not good. I had high hopes when we walked in. I do hope the recipe gets better. This place looks great and has a wonderful vibe.

Fresh baked chips you can tell were just made, goes great with their signature homemade salsa. Tacos had perfect seasoning and the steak was cooked perfectly.

I had a terrific lunch at Mi Rey and look forward to returning. I got a carnitas sope, and it was the best sope I’ve had since I left California in 2009. My family got el pastor tacos, pollo asado tacos, shrimp tacos, and a fajita burrito. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and there was very little left over. The waiter was friendly, and the restaurant is clean. Overall, it was the perfect casual lunch.

Unfortunately a very poor experience (and my husband and I love mexican food). Restaurant was completely empty except for us (even 1.5 hours before close). The chips were not like any chips I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant- very hard and thick, and full of huge bubbles- it almost seemed like the wrong kind of tortilla had been used. We ordered queso, and it was extremely watery- dripped right off the chip- and did not get any thicker when cooled. The salsa was OK but did not taste super fresh, it was almost smoky. The chicken fajitas had OK flavor, but were very salty. They were also more expensive than advertised on the menu- they were listed at $14.99, but we were charged $20, which is a pretty significant jump. The only positives were 1) our server was was kind and responsive and 2) the rice and black beans on the side were pretty tasty and a good portion size. Overall very disappointed and will not be returning. Would not recommend.

I ordered the taco combo and let me just say food was 10/10. I will be coming back to eat here again. All of the food is reasonably priced! And very good portion size.
02/18/26 I went back to mi Rey and ate inside. Service was phenomenal! I loved the food once again. This time I tried these steak fajitas 10/10 would recommend. Definitely try the red sauce with the fajitas! I love this establishment so much and I will be coming back

Everything was delicious—very good and served hot. The manager was especially kind and respectful; he explained the specials section in detail and mentioned that the ingredients are locally sourced, which you can really taste—they felt fresh and full of flavor.
They also have a paloma that truly impressed me—absolutely delicious. The service was perfect, everything arrived on time, and we didn’t have to wait at all even though the place was full. Highly recommended.

I put the service down as a little lower than I wanted to. The whole menu in Spanish so you better be able to translate. The server does speak English and it’s very polite incapable. The only reason I put them lower was because he was kind of a one-man show and I had to end up waiting a lot. I paid a lot for a really average burrito, but they did have some really delicious looking food at the next table I’m going to try the next time I go.

I have seen this place as I drive by market Street for a while now and I’ve always been meaning to stop in. A little note I’ve been learning Spanish for a while and when I walked in for some reason forgot that they might greet me in Spanish. So I probably looked like something was wrong with me when I took a few seconds to register what was happening and answer the greater back haha. But the staff was very kind and when I answered back in Spanish continue to talk to me in Spanish and occasionally in English for the rest of my visit.
As far as the food goes I ordered a burrito I looked at the description and saw that it was meat, shrimp, beans and rice. For some reason I didn’t register that there would be onions and peppers inside. Mostly because I’m an idiot. I despise onions but that’s not the restaurant’s problem and I didn’t ask for any special accommodation. But unfortunately my first bite into the burrito was a giant chunk of onion. After getting past that I cut open the rest of the burrito and ate around everything and it was really good. One thing to know it’s not a positive or a negative they cut their vegetables an extremely large chunks where most Mexican restaurants have been to it’s kind of diced in small pieces these were huge chunks. Not necessarily a bad thing just something to be aware of. It actually made it easier for me to eat around. Both of the salsas I tried were really good. I really liked the red one. Spicy but very flavorful.
Tldr: the restaurant was cleaned the servers and workers were all very nice the food came out fast and was fresh and flavorful.

I ordered the Mi Rey Burrito with chicken and was pleasantly surprised! It came with a side of crispy French fries that had a light flour coating—perfectly golden on the outside and tender inside. The burrito itself was packed with flavor—the rice was especially well-seasoned, and I loved the addition of the chile relleno inside. The chicken was flavorful and authentic, though I wouldn’t have minded just a bit more of it. The side sauces—verde and a smoky mild chipotle—were a great touch and added depth to the meal. They even included utensils and ketchup for the fries, which was appreciated.
Overall, it was a satisfying and tasty experience. Definitely worth a visit and it didn’t disappoint!

Such an unknown spot but the food and service is AMAZING. Everyone is so kind over there and the energy in the restaurant is so beautiful and peaceful. If you’re looking for some good Mexican food with good pricing and a place that has good customer service, this is the right place for you!
