Found this gem in our small town for a late lunch, and it didn’t disappoint! Quick service, super clean spot, and the waitress was on it, topping up our drinks before we even asked. They even hooked us up with a free taste of their cheese sauce, which was a nice bonus! The tacos were great and the rice was moist.

I grew up in Texas. I’ve been eating Mexican food my entire life. When we moved to a small town in Kansas, I was worried i wasn’t going to get good Mexican food. Boy was I wrong. We live in Basehor and will drive to Tongie for this place. They have great variety of food. Their salsa is so good that we eat two bottles of it. I highly recommend it! We will becoming more often since my parents just moved to Tongie.

The phrase “mi potro” translates to “my colt” in English. The term “potro” specifically refers to a young male horse, often used in agricultural contexts or in the context of riding. But mi potro is mi amore because I love it here. SO definitly try it out sometime! you likely will not regret it.

My husband was terribly ill within hours of eating here. Our salsa had a bit of a rancid smell and the refried beans had a very specific manure stench. off, too. I didn’t eat the beans, but he did as he couldn’t smell anything off. Hopefully the food poisoning was just a fluke as beans spoil easily. The rest of the meal was standard American-Mexican.

The food was decent. The salsa has no heat to it at all. They wouldn’t let me order a half portion of nachos.

Recently reopened. The food was very good and the service was fantastic. The employees work really hard. Combo 21, enchiladas and queso birria.
