Social Profile:

When our parents, Kim Tran and Dan Dieu, moved to South Philadelphia from Vietnam, they brought along a passion for food and the dream of opening a restaurant of their own. Adjusting to their new lives put that goal to the side, but the kitchen remained the heart and gathering place of our home.

A hip, vibrant, and modern vibe with perfect banh mi bread. Crisp, aromatic outside (but not tough), and airy, soft dough on the inside. There are many more coffee choices than your average bubble tea place, adding to the Vietnamese experience. The sandwich and drink choices are delicious, but rice bowls and soups are solid as well. My only criticism is that the tapioca pearls are hit or miss. I’ve been there a few times and they can sometimes be undercooked

The drinks were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the beef stew and egg rolls and holy lord!!!! The beef stew broth my a rich and sweet beef pho broth with heart carrots and beef topped with cilantro. Otherworldly. The eggrolls were also SO good. Sole of the best I’ve ever had. Cannot recommend this place enough. This spot is super special!

You’re in the middle of working but your eyes can’t stop looking at Matcha Tiramisu Latte. I got it made with almond milk although the foam was dairy(jfz). So good. I needed to eat something quick. I ordered the fried tofu bites. They weren’t marinated but were crispy and came on a little bed of salad(surprise). It was sprinkled with a bit of cayenne. There are other offerings I will try next visit, not working.

Update:
The owner responded to my review, and I want to address their comments. First off, I approached them right away with my concern that the banh-mi was bland and needed more flavoring. They didn’t care then. I ended up just asking for more Vietnamese mayo, hoping that it would add a little more flavor—it did not. While they didn’t care then, they cared enough to respond to an honest Google Review by trying to condescend and minimize my feedback. As a result, I’m downgrading my review to 1-star.

Here’s the thing. I’m a huge fan of banh-mi, and I’ve lived in France so am very familiar with pâté. When I say something is bland, I am speaking from experience. Banh-mi normally has rich, complex flavors because it relies on fresh, quality ingredients. When I ate the pork belly, it tasted like lunch meat that had added pepper. The pâté was barely present—I literally had to take apart the banh-mi to even see it. And Vietnamese mayo is not regular mayo with extra egg yolk. It’s supposed to be richer, more complex than regular mayo, relying less on vinegar and acids—this did not taste like that. Overall, they just do not use quality ingredients. They’re not bad ingredients. I don’t think people will get sick from them, but they’re just mass-produced, bland, and lack any flavor profile that one would expect from a banh-mi. The only part of the banh-mi that tasted distinct in any way was the jalapeño… well, the bread was also nice, crunchy.

Additionally, the restaurant was NOT rushed. There was only one other table waiting on food when we arrived, and a few to-go orders. I got my banh-mi fairly quickly, though my friend had to wait for a LONG time to get his spring rolls—the sauce that came with the spring rolls was awful btw, think sugary bbq sauce. As for the tipping, I can’t stress this enough: Restaurants that do not offer table service should not automatically suggest a 20% tip. What are we tipping for? You don’t greet us, offer food suggestions, get us drinks, or even bus the table. Food arrives late, and no one checks in to make sure you’re enjoying the food. Tipping is supposed to reward good customer service, but there was none.

Original Review:
Ordered a banh-mi, and it was extremely bland. The pate was barely noticeable, the pork belly was peppery and rubbery lunch meat, and the Vietnamese mayo tasted like regular mayo with food coloring. Service was mid.

The place is just a gentrified food spot, the kind where you order at the register, and the screen prompts you to tip 20% before they provide any actual service. The cashier was nice enough, just rushed and disinterested in actually interacting. No one checks in on you to see if you need anything, and then you have to bus your own table—so what’s the tip for? It’s not worth the visit.

Really great lunch spot in Manayunk.

Came with a few people and started off sharing taro chips which were a great combination of sweet and salty.

We shared the fried shrimp, the lemongrass pork, and the side trip to Korea. The last one being my favorite. The bulgogi beef was seasoned perfectly and paired well with the fresh veggies and crisp roll. Great sandwich.

Friendly staff as well; would definitely recommend stopping in.

I’ve ordered from here once or twice over the years. The bahn mi have been fresh, very flavorful and overall of high quality. The popcorn chicken is tasty as well but it could be a bigger serving as someone else also said. I would definitely order again or eat in at this establishment.

Phenomenal food and drinks!! Be prepared to want to visit this restaurant every day and give them all your money! 🙂 We happened to be walking around and this place caught our eye. We tried the lemongrass pork sandwich and the crispy shrimp sandwich. Both sandwiches had huge portions of protein and the freshest veggies we’ve ever tasted. We couldn’t get over how much protein was in this sandwich. The shrimps are huge shrimp not the tiny shrimp or chopped up shrimp. We also could not stop talking about how they had the freshest cilantro we had ever experienced. The fresh baked roll is the perfect vessel for all the sandwich goodies and it soft inside with a crispy crust. The bread doesn’t weigh down the sandwich and you don’t feel like your just eating bread. The boba in the drinks was cooked perfectly with the right amount of chew. We liked that the drinks packed a lot of flavor without being overly sweet or sugary. Super friendly staff and nice quick service add to the overall experience!

Amazing banh mi sandwich- I got the fried shrimp and it was fresh and yum especially with the veggies/cilantro. ONE thing is I wish there was more sauce in the sandwich~but still good. We got the Vietnamese iced coffee, purple daze milk tea, and passion fruit sunrise tea. I got the purple daze which was a great combo of taro&green tea. Everyone loved their drinks. Employees there were friendly!

This Banh mi slapped so hard I forgot where I was for a few minutes. I got the shrimp banh mi and added chicken pate. Fresh, crispy veggies, the cilantro was even so beautiful. So. Fire. I ate 2 whole orders of Taro chips because they were the best I ever had. They sprinkle sugar on them! The viet iced coffee was so rich and smooth. I think I’m coming back here tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that. Service was SO nice, they were really kind and the store was pretty. Lovely place for a scrumptious quick bite!

Very pleased! Great service, very yummy food, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere!

My partner and I stopped by there during a bike ride. They kindly allowed us to park our bike inside the restaurant. The atmosphere is very cosy and modern. Service is great. Lots of (original) choices on the menu. Food was very yummy.

Very satisfied! We’ll certainly return!
