Mi Compa Chava : r/MexicoCity – Reddit

Hey! Visiting CDMX next month and a friend recommended mi compa Chava but I’ve heard the waits are crazy in Norte compared to Coyoacán.

Mi Compa Chava is an amazing Mexican seafood restaurant in Mexico City. It has several locations, but I visited the one in Coyoacán and I loved it! Everything was absolutely delicious.

We had the bluefin tuna tostadas honestly, some of the best I’ve ever had. The tuna literally melted in your mouth, like butter. Incredible. We also tried the shrimp, which were amazing, and the shrimp chicharrón. When you arrive, they even greet you with a warm shrimp broth that has that authentic Mexican flavor I hadn’t tasted in a while. Perfectly seasoned and so comforting!

The restaurant is usually very busy, and you often have to wait in line. Luckily, we were very fortunate we went on a Saturday around lunchtime, and it wasn’t too crowded. We had to wait about 20 minutes, and then we were seated quickly. I’ve heard that at peak times the lines can get very long.

The service is excellent, from the host to the manager and the servers everyone was wonderful.

And the desserts… wow! Absolutely spectacular. I tried the cajeta flan and the house-made ice cream, which was huge and delicious. The sweets are just as impressive as the savory dishes.

They also have a great selection of drinks, fun micheladas, and fresh clams. Everything we tried was spectacular.

If you’re visiting Mexico City, you absolutely have to go. I highly recommend it 10/10. Every dish, savory or sweet, is amazing!

One of the best meals I had here, so I had it twice! The tuna tostada and cachetona were my favs, but I wish I also tried the octopus dish. They had a lovely carajillo too. The service was great!

A must visit! We stood in line a little before opening, and the line continued behind us. It moves fast though, and we were seated pretty quickly. The service here is a 10/10. They are quick, attentive, and friendly. The shrimp was so surprisingly juicy and flavorful… I wish I could experience eating it for the first time again. Everything honestly was so, so good and fresh! But the shrimp was my favorite.

I had visited contramar before so wanted to try this one out. It’s less sophisticated and casual than contramar/entremar. My advice is skip the aguachile/ seafood Tower or grilled prawns/fish and order bunch of tacos and tostadas. They are all amazing.

Atmosphere: a little loud. Food: outstanding for any person (like me) who loves extra spicy ceviche, octopus, scallops, and other FRESH seafood served by numerous friendly and patient employees. They were constantly keeping the place sparkling clean. I do not recommend this place for gringos who can’t handle spicy adventurous food. (The owners should consider adding something for those wimpy Kansas or Idaho palates.) Our dessert, a smoked plantain with nuts, was incredibly yummy!

A bit of a wait but worth it! Food on point, customer service great, a bit packed and busy when we went but the food made up for that. I definitely recommend when in this cute little town!

This place is worth the hype! The quality and flavor of the food was absolutely delicious. The servers work incredible hard and are on point.

The aguachile verde and pescado frito stole the show. We will definitely be back here and will recommend our friends.

It’s a solid 3 star, the food is good but not good value (300 peso for their tuna tostada, it’s good but not that good), the wait is extremely long, even once you’re seated.

They also messed up our order, which is pretty disappointing when the prices are jacked up
