We were looking for a casual spot with authentic Italian food. I was surprised to find the restaurant in such need of update and thorough dusting/painting/window cleaning but we had hopes this was a hidden gem and I don’t mind a funky atmosphere if food is worth it. Staff was awfully nice, so I regret not giving the place a better review. My husband and I both had pasta dishes with meatballs. As stated in other reviews, portions are ridiculously large. Each enough for four people. I don’t think pasta or sauce was homemade but it was good enough. Real disappointment for me was that my otherwise tasty meatballs were burnt on the bottom, as if they had been scorched from sitting in a pan too long. Salads could have been bagged mixed greens and only option of dressing given to us was what tasted like a bottled balsamic. A nice oil and vinegar or homemade Italian would have been a nice option. Dinner rolls were warm and delicious but not plentiful—one per person despite paying nearly $25 per entree that included the roll and salad. Due to all of the above, I would say skip if you are looking for a hidden gem in Hull. It’s just okay.

Was on vacation and was looking for somewhere to eat late. We came across this restaurant and they were extremely welcoming considering they were closing soon. The wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is a classic, old school, Italian restaurant. All dishes are served with a complementary round of ciabatta bread and salad. The servings were huge and extremely packed with flavor. I got the penne rose which was phenomenal. The prices are extremely reasonable and I really enjoyed my time here as well as my conversations with the staff.

This is…sui generis. Mostly 1970s “family” dining. But its own thing.

Authentic Italian food. Perfectly cooked Pasta. Enormous proportions. Biggest piece of lasagna I have seen in my life. Midnight Pasta is excellent.

Parking is alittle tough, but all parking in Hull is impossible. Big smiles when entering, very 60’s interior with tiffany style lamps hanging from their ceiling. Kathlein and Bonnie were super, with clean uniforms and big smiles always. The menu is filled with the top 10 Italian choices. We shared a dinner, and still had enough for another person. All in all a wonderful experience, and maybe one day, Mezzo Mare will get a update on its interior. PS sorry no Military discount Thanks again

The location of the restaurant is so nice, and the fireplace adds a great deal to the experience especially in winter. The food was delicious, and the plates were enormous, tasty wine, and the service was very nice. The waitresses were so friendly and lovely. It’s a good place overall

Good size portions, but that’s about where it ends. Very bland food and VERY Expensive for Italian food. I’ve never paid more than like $18 for chicken parm anywhere and it was $25 here for nothing special. Shrimp scampi was also expensive and very bland. So for two meals and 3 glasses of so-so Chianti wine and a tip, it was over $100! What you might pay for 3-4 people at most Italian restaurants. Tourist trap so be aware if you go.
