Even in the cold, the outdoor seating is warm and inviting thanks to the heating and thoughtful décor. It’s perfect for a holiday night out with friends, a date, or just a peaceful meal by the water.
Their drinks are also top-notch, creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. This place really captures the seasonal spirit and is definitely a must-visit if you’re looking to enjoy great food and drinks with a stunning winter river view. I’ll absolutely be back!
The food was decent overall. The highlight was definitely the Amalfi Seafood Pasta Al Cartoccio—served in a parchment bag, it was light yet packed with flavor from the mussels, clams, shrimp, and calamari in a garlic white wine sauce. A lovely dish that felt fresh and well-balanced.
The Oven Roasted Salmon had a nice crisp on the outside and was moist inside, but it leaned a bit too oily for my taste. The Fried Calamari came with two sauces (rustic tomato and lemon-caper yogurt), but the breading didn’t hold up well and felt greasy. The Crispy Crab Croquettes were fine, though nothing memorable, and the Spanakopita—crispy spinach-feta triangles—was enjoyable, especially with the spicy feta dip.
Service was just okay. It felt a bit robotic and lacked warmth or attentiveness. While the food and service didn’t blow me away, the view alone makes it worth a visit—especially if you’re looking for a scenic spot to unwind.
We opted to sit close to the waterfront just in time to watch the sun dip behind the skyline and the view was breathtaking. The Hudson gleamed as the light softened, and the whole family was struck by how beautiful the setting was. As for the food, it was outstanding. I ordered a lobster pasta dish where the lobster (shell and all) sat right on the plate, and it was delectable rich, flavorful, and elegant. My wife had the same, and we both could not stop praising every bite. The kids kept it simple and classic with fries and whatever else made them happy, and they enjoyed their meal too small tweaks for comfort, big smiles all around.
From what I learned later, Mezze on the River is a Mediterranean-inspired waterfront dining concept in Battery Park City, located at 375 South End Avenue in Manhattan. It features two outdoor terraces as well as an indoor dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, giving diners sweeping views of the Hudson River. Their menu offers Mediterranean and seafood plates, with signature items like the “Black Squid Ink Truffle Lobster Pasta” among their standout dishes. The restaurant is part of Merchants Hospitality, known for creating beautiful waterfront dining experiences.
While parking directly at the restaurant is limited (there is no on-site parking noted), the area is served by taxis, rideshares, and nearby garages. If walking or catching an Uber from Lower Manhattan, it’s a pleasant ride down to Battery Park City. The closest subway access is via lines 1 & E at the World Trade Center, R & W at Cortlandt, or 4 & 5 at Fulton Street, which makes it fairly accessible.
Dining at Mezze with the family was more than a meal it was an experience. The mix of creative Mediterranean flavors, the sunset over the water, and the warm, inviting atmosphere all came together. If you’re in New York and looking for dinner with both wow and heart, I can’t recommend Mezze on the River enough.
The food was outstanding. The filet mignon was tender and flavorful, and the pasta was just as good. What really stood out, though, was the service. Our server had an awesome sense of humor and such a vibrant personality, which made the whole experience even better. Everyone we interacted with was kind and welcoming.
Between the incredible sunset view of the Statue of Liberty, the delicious food, and the great vibes, we fell in love with this spot. We’ll definitely be coming back and are already recommending it to friends.
The food was pretty good as well but, for me the highlight was the service and atmosphere. The view across the river is very beautiful especially during sunset.
The service was excellent — they gave us great recommendations based on our preferences, and everything turned out perfect. We even ordered two of the same dishes again because they were that good! The fried calamari, cigars, and drinks were out of this world, each one better than the last.
The Amalfi Seafood Pasta completely stole the spotlight — incredible flavor and generous portions that were perfect for sharing — and the steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing.
To end the night on a high note, the desserts were the perfect finishing touch: a delicious chocolate cake and a refreshing lemon ice cream that made the whole evening unforgettable.
Thank you to the Mezze staff for making this such a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely be back!
The food was outstanding—especially the Amalfi seafood pasta, full of fresh flavors and perfectly prepared. The chicken was another favorite, with a generous portion ideal for sharing amongst three people. Each round of drinks was even better than the last, beautifully made and refreshing.
Dessert was the highlight to finish the evening—the chocolate cake was rich, smooth, and simply unforgettable. Paired with the beautiful view and the joy of sharing the moment with friends, it made the evening truly special.
We can’t wait to come back soon!
