First, let me just say that I have been coming here since I was a kid, and it was very consistent up until about a year and a half ago. In the spring of 2022 it seemed like the quality, portions, and overall taste of the food went downhill. However, after going there today I am so happy to see it appears things have returned to normal. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were large, the quality was great, and the service was excellent! I believe our server’s name was Adam and he was the best server I have had at ANY restaurant in a long, long time.

We went here because our favorite places (Mi Pueblo and Los Galanes) were closed on a Monday. We thought because it had 4.4 stars, it would be good enough. WRONG! Worst Mexican food and one of the worst meals we’ve ever had. The food was flavorless—just like most of the people who were dining there.

I felt for the price I should have gotten more food. Was nothing that I couldn’t make at home. And they used sliced cheese instead of what they usually use when I asked for extra inside of my burrito they put it on top. My smoothie was delicious tho. Waitress was great very helpful super nice and friendly. People were entirely too loud like they missed the lesson on having inside voices.

Located at the edge of both Corktown and Mexican Town, Mexican Village Restaurant is a solid family style restaurant with good parking, very friendly staff, and a simple traditional Mexican menu with a liquor license.

Más Viejo. A classic Mexican American restaurant in the heart of southwest Detroit. Mexican Village claims the honor of the first Mexican restaurant in Detroit and they have been here a long time banging out consistently great food. Full bar, awesome food and great service is probably why they are still strong after over 50 years of business! I think my favorite thing was how friendly and attentive everyone was.
