Not really authentic Mexican food, but it’s good. It’s worth a trip. The mild salsa is very mild and really sweet. The hot salsa is super hot. Mixed together was pretty good.

I’ll start with the really sweet waitress. She was amazing to us all at the booth. She didn’t charge me for my plate, and took my negative critique well. The food was awful. My steak chimichanga had a terrible red sauce on top of it. Very little steak. Filled with refried beans. My entire plate looked like a slop smorgasbord, slop for pigs. The taste was nasty. I tried adding salt, but that did not help. The salsa was so bad. I asked for something that tasted more “real”. I swear they use ketchup to make the salsa. If you want Mexican food, don’t go here.

Love me some Mexican Villa. Sancho encillada style is the bomb. Second choice a crisy beef taco. Their cheese is awesome. Staff is always friendly, helpful and attentive.

“The plates are hot” at the iconic Mexican Villa West!
This is the only Mexican Villa location I have tried. The last time I looked at the menu here was 1975. I have not needed to look at the menu since. I have and always will order one meal “The Chico Plate.”
I eat here for two reasons the Chico Plate and the hot sauce. The hot sauce, I could drink with a straw. It is hot with wonderful flavors. Take a bite of it on a chip; the endorphins kick in and then regardless of the burn there is no stopping. The Chico Plate is about the same. It is a simple meal. A very nicely spiced ground beef enchilada, beans, and rice. The whole plate is covered with some of the best tasting red sauce of any Mexican restaurant I have ever dined. On top of it all is crisp fresh lettuce and chopped tomatoes. It all works together, to make one of my all-time favorite Mexican meals.
Mexican Villa has been in business since 1951. They must have a strong local customer base, because they have expanded across Springfield. It is kind of a cult thing for the locals. It’s a long drive for me, but absolutely essential at least once or twice a year.
Is it the best Mexican food in Springfield? Don’t know don’t care!
If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection “Jalapeno Highway” on Yelp. I’ve probably been there.

Food was not great, really never is, but the hubbs likes the BES, so we go occasionally.
I ordered the Villa Bowl with pintos and got rice and guacamole I specifically asked NOT to have. I had gastric surgery and rice causes issues, I did not notice the rice until I’d eaten my fill because I was preoccupied with the grands.
Didn’t check the bill, again preoccupied with grands, was charged $2 for the 2 tablespoons of guacamole, making my meal now $14.99.
Unfortunately, because of the rice I cannot eat it later. And I ended up sick because the rice swelling in my tummy.
Moral of the story, pay attention to what you’re getting and paying for.

There are several Mexican villas in our town Springfield Missouri but I would say this has the best food and also the best service. Kind of Tex-Mex but always hot and served on a hot platter. The waitress was very attentive and very helpful.

I used to LOVE eating here. With fair prices for amount you received. The last 2 times I have been VERY disappointed. First off it is now right at $18.00 for a burrito enchilada style, and one small bag of chips (to go order). Even the burrito is smaller!! This time the chips I got looked and tasted like they had sat under the warming lamp WAY to long!! I would be embarrassed to serve them and the tomatoes… That’s what those are in the attached photo !! I understand everything has gone up but then the product should be the quality or even better than it was before. Soon NO One will want to spend that kind of money for poor quality food, and then what ??? Businesses close, unemployment rises…. Vicious cycle! I for one will NOT be wasting any more of my money at this location for sure. I should have known when I walked in the door and was made to feel like I was more of an inconvenience than someone who was helping pay for their salary or position! Oh and did I mention, this was at 5:30 when everyone would be stopping in for supper?

Worst food I’ve ever had. All 4 of us couldn’t finish our food. Our stomachs immediately started turning. Cheese is like paste. Salsa like ketchup. They brought me tortillas and they were dripping an outrageous amount of butter.

I ordered their chicken enchilada plate and was pretty disappointed. The portion was small compared to other Mexican restaurants I’ve visited, and the cheese sauce had a strange flavor. The chicken was a bit dry and didn’t have a good flavor either. This all would have been fine if the meal alone hadn’t cost a whopping $19.46. For the quality and portion of this dish, I think $11 would have been acceptable.

I will note, they were quick to fulfill my Togo order and placing the order over the phone was easy. The rice was pretty good too.
Hopefully this review helps to improve this dish.

I don’t know how this is even called Mexican food. $30 for two people, and it was like a trap house burrito. Salad tacos. The salsa was ketchup with some onions blended in it. Our server kept forgetting stuff like drinks??
