The customer service was absolutely amazing. My family and I walked and were greeted immediately with cheerfulness’s welcomes. We sat and the waitress Pricilla gave us a rundown of the menu and some things she recommended, She is a hard worker and consistent! Only thing was the plate a member had wasn’t what the envisioned and didn’t like the flavor but Manager Micheal came by and asked for a run down of what was wrong and went ahead and got a complementary tortilla soup to make up for it ! I say you go to Mexican Oak for a fine dining experience and a beautiful environment. Would go again !

Had an amazing impromptu dinner here. One of the best tacos I’ve ever had. We had the beef and red snapper tacos and it was sooo yummy. Perfectly seasoned, fresh, and served hot. We even got extra rice and beans on the side. The complimentary bean dip that comes with the chips and salsa (also complimentary) was chef’s kiss!! Our server Denis was super kind, thoughtful, and attentive!! We will definitely be back with family and friends. Reading from the other reviews, there has definitely been a huge improvement. Visit this place for authentic Mexican food and you won’t regret it.

Me and my husband went on a spontaneous date over here and it was really cool on the inside! There were so many good photo ops, and I LOVE all the different seating choices and lighting they had! Also big plus, the food was great! Also they have a private part for reservations which was also really cool!

Mexican Oak exceeded my expectations. The unique Margarita mixes made 50% off EVERDAY happy hours even sweeter. I tried the guajillo one and it was TASTY! The 3 salsas offered for chips and tacos were all delicious! The carne asada tacos were super tasty! Beans and Rice came separately for the table and they were very delicious and BOTTOMLESS! Abby did a fantastic job on being attentive and advising on the menu and drinks. The decor was cute and inviting! Lots of natural night in there too 🙂

First time eating at Mexican Oak today and it was AMAZING! The whole restaurant is beautifully staged with lots of seating options and natural light. Our server Peyton was lovely and attentive.

I was most impressed with the quality of the food for the cost! Our lunch was just $38 and that included a mocktail and 2 meals! Chips, salsa and black bean dip were served first and that was delicious. We got the brunch burrito and the enchiladas verdes from the lunch menu. Everything was soooooo tasty and thoughtfully plated.

10/10 food and service! We’ll be back!

I really like to focus on the positives but small things contribute to the overall experience. Friday nights can be busy so we put our name on the waitlist. Half of the restaurant was empty but we waited. The Bar staff was attentive and familiar with the menu. Our table became available after about 30 min wait which is fine for a Friday night. We had brought our cocktails and thankfully ordered appetizers. We waited and no, greeting or water. My Dining companion got up and asked for water. It was tap water, no ice, straight from the faucet. Our server Andrea was very prompt & attentive. I entertain out of town Guest frequently but I am struggling with to find the reason why I would choose this restaurant opposed to the other available choices in the area.

Tried the steak fajitas that are “marinated for 12+ hours”, but did not taste any seasonings. Requested medium rare- but was cooked well done. Salsa had no seasonings/heat. Salt and pepper come in ramekins and a spoon, not sure that is the most sanitary. Drinks were not great. Great service and location.

I had not been to this location since it was Barley & Board. We had the Mexican Oak Ensalada and the Pollo Fajitas. Both were excellent, as was the service and the ambience.

So happy we stopped in for lunch today! I was really wanting tacos, stopped by El Taco H, line was out the door, so we decided to give Mexican Oak a shot! Seriously, so thankful we did!
Tay was an incredible server! So friendly and attentive. She recommended the empanadas and we got them. Pretty sure those will be my new pregnancy craving! They were delicious!
We also got the carnitas tacos and short rib tacos. We will absolutely be back again, and again, and again!
Thank you Tay for making our first visit there so great!

Last visit- food is terrible now. I don’t know what they changed, but it’s awful now. Do not recommend. Why is the hostess bringing chips n salsa to the table? What happened to the bean dip? Why is the tortilla soup so watery?

It’s like this place purposely did great in the beginning to justify the prices- which I was happy to pay when it was good. Then it sunk miserably. This place is horrible now. I won’t go back.

My wife and I tried out the new Mexican Oak restaurant last week. Located where the old Barley and Board was on the downtown square in Denton, Texas.

We were greeted and sat quickly from the hostess upon entering, and there was choices between bar, table, and table/booth seating. We chose a table between the entrance and the bar.

Our server was out quickly and brought us water, and took our cocktail order. We were informed it was happy hour and that is always a plus! We ordered the chorizo queso and it was brought out promptly with plenty of chips and salsa. The salsa is a chipotle variety and was excellent. The queso w/chorizo was also excellent and we commented about it when the server returned to take our order.

After ordering our dishes, the server informed us that many of the items on the menu were sourced locally including the chorizo. She went back to ask the chef where this came from after taking our order.

A few moments later, one of the owners of the restaurant came out to tell us about their ingredients and choices for local sourcing, even the butcher shop where the chorizo came from.

Both our meals were excellent, and decent sized portions. After finishing dinner we had another cocktail and were visited by the owner again to ask us about he food and our experience. We raved about the experience and were happy to find a really good Mexican restaurant downtown. Michael and Millicent are the owners, and Michael is hiding in the kitchen, while Millicent ensures the clients are happy and taken care of.

We will be back!!!! Excellent food, drinks and staff!
