I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was excellent; the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout my meal. I truly loved the entire experience and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service.

After a disappointing dinner at a place down the road on the night before, we opted for Still Steaks on our next evening in Mexican Hat and were so happy it offered a 180 turnaround from the other restaurant. The host is welcoming, and the patio is inviting and relaxing, with coolers that keep the breeze flowing. There’s a great veg-patty option on the menu, and we supplemented our platters with delicious grilled jalapenos and mushrooms…yum! Definitely THE place to enjoy a great meal and friendly service when in Mexican Hat!

This is our kind of find in the nooks and crannies of America. The Still is open air and the aroma of charred meat permeates the surroundings. Grill master Austin did a super job with our ribeye and toast while server Shay finished it up with salad and pintos (manna as far as I’m concerned!). Both were very friendly and took good care of us while on Mexican Hat. Find your way to this little gem along the San Juan.

Very fulfilling ! We had to search for a quick stop during our roadtrip and this spot showed up with good reviews .
You think that it’s just a house from the outside but it’s a lodge with an open kitchen . When we had our order it tasted amazing. It was properly seasoned had good combinations side ; meat, veggie , toast and beans. I never liked beans but that time I finished it.
They have a good patio area.
Service was very good too.

Called in here after a long drive from Las Vegas. Was made to feel very welcome. The chef is also a bull rider and truck driver! We ordered a flat iron and a New York strip steak. Cooked medium rare to perfection on a charcoal grill. Our steaks are up there with some of the best we’ve had. Came with refried beans, salad and Texan style toast. Everything was delicious and we cleared our plates. We sat outside to eat and soaked up the rustic charm of this wonderful restaurant. Highly recommend

My son and were here in Sept 22 and on a big Road Trip through West US. This was before I started getting into Google Reviews and it was known as Swingin Steaks then. We loved it. The host/chef was full of character and energy and the steak and accompaniments eaten outside was a real experience. The steak was perfectly cooked. A very satisfying meal indeed.

Good Lord, after driving for several hours from MOAB Utah towards the grand canyon we stumbled upon this place out of shear luck. When I say that this was in the top 3 steaks I’ve ever had. The entire trip of guys were baffled by how much flavor a steak could have. Perfectly cooked medium rare. Server incredibly nice. If your driving through and want a fantastic steak stop here, no questions asked.

Went there for the second time already. Nice ambiente and friendly owner. Not only steaks are swinging but also some veggie pattys, if you are vegetarian don’t worry, you will get some good food too! Vegan option is a plate of the side dishes without meat or veggie patty.
The food is tasty and just what you need after visiting Monument Valley and Mexican Hat.

We were on the trip of a lifetime from the UK; almost at the end of our drive across the USA, having started in NYC almost 2 weeks before, we had booked into the Mexican Hat Lodge for 2 nights in April to visit The Arches National Park and Monument Valley. Excellent meal after a long drive from Alamosa via the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Lovely atmosphere; very accommodating and chatty staff, just wished we lived closer – highly recommended!

One of the Worst Dining Experiences of My Life – Avoid at All Costs
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We were served, and I use that word generously, a plate of beans – not a dish with beans, but literally a sad puddle of canned beans unceremoniously dumped into a tray, like a school lunch gone terribly wrong. The accompanying “salad” was some limp greens drenched in a vinegar so harsh it could strip paint – absolutely inedible.
And then came the “toast,” which was burnt beyond recognition, charred in such a way that I’m convinced they grilled it over an actual engine block. It reeked of motor oil and despair.
But the true insult came with the bill: not only was the meal horrendous, but we were robbed. The total should’ve been $80, which was already outrageous for the garbage we were served, but they had the audacity to pre-add a $20 tip – without asking. So we paid $100 for what was essentially a culinary hate crime.
I wouldn’t feed that meal to a raccoon. The whole experience was a disgrace.
But of course, in that area, there’s nothing else around, so they clearly rely on people being desperate and trapped. Well, never again. I’d rather chew on my own shoes than go back.
