I stopped at Mexican Affair while I was near Rathbun Lake, and it totally exceeded expectations. It’s got this casual, friendly setup—covered outdoor seating, relaxed crowd, and just a good overall vibe. You don’t feel rushed, and the people running it are super welcoming.
I went with the chicken burrito plate and added some Rathbun nachos on the side—everything was packed with flavor, cooked fresh, and hit that perfect balance of spice and texture. They even threw in some chips and salsa, which honestly were better than most sit-down restaurants I’ve been to.
One thing I really liked—they’ve got a solid variety: bowls, street tacos, seafood plates, and more. And if you’re staying out by Honey Creek or out on the water, they deliver right to the lake. That’s just awesome.
If you’re out this way, this place is absolutely worth the stop. Great food, fair prices, and a cool little spot that does it right.

It’s a outside dining area. Very unique. You can sit in the sheltered dining area or sit outside under a tree kind of like a picnic. Prices were decent in today’s world they’re not over priced. I have only been there twice but I will definitely be coming back in the spring season. I loved the location. It is a terrific place to stop and get something in your belly before or after a day at the lake. I was very impressed with the prices and the quality of this qaunt lil gem. Loved it

Absolutely wonderful! Large portions, chips & salsa yummy! Highly recommend, this is only pick up or delivery, however they do have a small area to sit outside.

great little roadside gem! 5 minutes from lake rathbun. breezy outside dining. great menu selection. we got street tacos. carnitas and shrimp. shrimp cooked perfectly. carnitas moist. delicious! slushies, sodas, frozen margarita’s! fantastico!
