My girlfriend and I went last night and had a great experience.
We had the queso which was the perfect level of spicy, you didn’t feel the need to drink a gallon of water while eating it.
We both then both did the “make your own burrito” it was such a great option for pickier eaters like us! We got to have exactly what we wanted.
We sat at the bar and so we got to see the kitchen. We both work in food service and we were so IMPRESSED with how much love and attention is given to the cleanliness of the place.
We loved the food and margaritas and the chef was amazing. He checked after we started eating our burritos to make sure we like it!
The only negative at all was that it was talked a lot about how late it was getting. So we definitely didn’t exactly take our time.
But we will definitely be visiting again!

Mexicali makes my favorite burrito — I’ve been getting the same one for years, the chili lime chicken. Their homemade hot sauces are the best, I love the pineapple and lime flavors. I miss the little New Paltz location (always looked forward to that pineapple hot sauce burrito after a hike) but glad the Wappingers location exists

We have been going to Mexicali Blue for years. It is one of our favorite places to go. I never tried the black bean soup until yesterday and am happy to say it was one of the best black bean soups I have ever tasted. My go to dish is the salmon tacos. The side of rice and beans are amazing. The salsa is authentic…. and the margaritas… worth every penny. I highly recommend Mexicali Blue.

Everything about this place is excellent. The staff treats you like family and the food is consistently great. Don’t let the location fool you (it’s in a strip mall near a McDonald’s), this is a genuinely solid place of you like quality food. Just found out they fry their tortilla chips in real beef tallow, and they know the name of the supplier! They also make their margaritas from scratch – no premixed stuff. Highly recommended

Friends said this was a good spot… Cute place but my food all came out cold (they were not busy at the time), the bartenders spent most of their time complaining about the money they made on their last shift instead of looking after their customers and their pomegranate margarita, while decently strong, did not taste like pomegranate and looked like they put red dye in it. Will not be going back to this spot.

For 6 years, the El Diablo Burrito has cockily enjoyed an undefeated winning streak against weak willed stomachs at Mexicali Blue in Wappingers Falls, NY. This demonic named challenge allows competitors up to 30 brief minutes to consume:
-One 4lb El Diablo burrito stuffed with their choice of chicken, steak, or pork
-One half pound each of house slaw as well ad refried beans
-One ghost pepper chile infused brownie
Successful completion earns you a free meal, spot on the wall of fame, and everlasting glory. Failure brings forth a 30 dollar bill and residency on the wall of SHAME.
Eager to give this challenge a shot, I drove out to the restaurant with my buds ready to devour the mondo burrito. El Diablo came out of the oven at little over FIVE pounds! Stuffed to maximum capacity with so many delicious components, from seasoned rice, melty cheese, perfectly seared HUNKS of chicken, and some stellar pickled red onions as well! The beastly utrito came with a giant bowl of house slaw DRENCHED in hot sauce and an equally big bowl of tender and sweet refried beans. To complete my monstrous meal, l concluded the challenge with a soft and cakey brownie supposedly infused with ghost pepper. I ate it too fast to really feel any heat, I’m also no stranger to spice. I was happy to set a new record of finishing the meal in 17:46, earning me a free meal and killer new shirt! Head chef Chris, inventor and original defeater of the challenge, came out to congratulate me gave me a full history of the El Diablo challenge along with many stories of food challenge successes and fails. He was impressed with my time and amazed I could ingest so must despite my size. He was also disgusted to see me eat an extra brownie and churro on top of the challenge! He’ll have to make a harder challenge for me next time (hopefully including the churros which were AMAZING!)
Overall, the food at Mexicali Blue tasted unreal. I highly recommend their burritos, diablo and normal sized, as well as their churros and brownies! The entire staff were beyond friendly, accommodating, and encouraging to my food challenge attempt and even allowed me to record it for my YouTube channel.
Whether you’re a competitive eater or just a hungry fiend, Mexicali Blue and El Diablo absolutely belong on your bucket list. If regular portions are more your speed, you will also be well served here with their delicious array of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and custom hot sauces!

This place is so delicious! They recently changed their prices too, and it’s so reasonable! You can get so much food for a great price and it’s always fresh! The service is excellent and I love that they have gluten free wraps and corn tacos!

This place is always great! We get the pernil nachos and tried the Harvest sangria. Both were delicious. Our server which we have had on multiple occasions is always friendly and knows the menu well. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. We’ll be back soon.

Really great place, always clean!! Friendly staff. My go to… charizo taco, side of jalapeno along with some custom make your own hot sauce. My wifes is tuna taco…yummy!!! We love authentic Mexican cuisine but if you want something other than lettuce cheese and tomatoes on your tacos give this venue a try, I think you’ll be pleased.
