Amazing food, super tasty, very special and uncommon combinations, but always incredibly good. Very nice and friendly service. Beautiful location tastefully decorated in true Mexican style. Couldn’t recommend this place more. We’ll definitely come back.

I really like the vibe of the restaurant. The food was good too! The service bit at the slower end and got some wrong orders. But apparently someone didn’t show up for their shift. So we understand.

I visited yesterday evening and was disappointed to learn that cocktails with egg white were no longer available, so I couldn’t try any of the sour cocktails. However, the waiter recommended a Paloma, which was excellent, as was the Mexican Mule. A nice touch was that tequila shots were served with orange and cinnamon instead of the usual lime and salt — a new and interesting experience.
Unfortunately, the evening ended on a sour note. My partner and I spent a total of €120, but €20 of that was an overcharge. The waitress accidentally double-charged me. I don’t believe it was intentional, but it was still quite upsetting.

Are you ready to eat the worst nachos of your life? They are rare in amount really greasy and guacamole was tiny miny. It was really sooo bad. We did not drink margarita they were just ice nothing else!!! We ordered fish taco it was like frozen fish with coleslaw salad inside. Really disgusting. If you want to throw your money into the bin, go for it! 🙂

The outdoor area is pretty cool, lots of different types of seats (lounge, high tables with stools, normal chairs). The vibe was nice. It took us a while to figure out that you have to scan the menue to order and have to pay up front. Nobody told us. You also have to tip up front which is ridiculous. Our order took forever. We ordered 2 drinks (11 and 14€), for a drink with 75% ice cubes. Our food took even longer. We got served the nachos (we ordered the veg one with eggplant) but got served the meat version which we accidentally ate. That’s unacceptable. It got placed on our table with the words it’s the veg nachos. Imagine being allergic or can’t eat beef for religious reasons. We “just” gagged because we can’t stand meat but that’s just not okay. We didn’t get offered compensation or anything. We also ordered the veg tofu tacos. They were dripping with fat/oil and I just couldn’t finish mine (also tiny serving for 12€). All in all we spent an entirety of 50€ for a very unsatisfactory quality of food. Servers were nice but stressed out. Nonetheless it was crowded so for some people it must be worth it. I wouldn’t recommend…

Mexcalli was the perfect place to have food and drinks sitting right outside baudelo. The tacos were so delicious accompanied with a matching cocktail. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful when we asked where to visit next during our stay in Ghent. Oh, and the colorful scenery in the garden made it so cosy. Mexcalli, I’ll be back!!
