I went there for the first time with my boyfriend yesterday and it was a intresting experience. The girl that was up at the front taking orders was nice but she really didn’t seem to know anything about the menu and just kept referring us to the screen. We ended up ordering 2 burritos and the loaded nachos, the total was around $50 after tax so not too bad for today’s economy. They made the food really fast, maybe about 10 mins in total. We went up to grab the food and just from looking at it I was unsure. The nachos literally only had barely melted cheese, tons of sour cream and a good amount of chicken, but nothing else you would expect in LOADED Nachos. No tomatoes, no onion, no cilantro, no guacamole, no queso sauce nothing. You have to walk up to there to the “salsa bar” and pick from the very little toppings and sauces they had. The topping looked old, and the sauces were so insanely spicy besides the mango salsa. To me it’s just crazy to charge 15.99 for nachos that you have to completely build yourself and you might even want to bring your own topping for the authentic Mexican experience. Moving on to the burritos, my classic burrito was unfortunately only had plain just rice, chicken and sour cream inside, no sauces, nothing else no lettuce, no tomatoes, no cilantro, nothing. My boyfriend got the fajita burrito and said it was really good so at least that was worth it. Other than everything else was just extremely bland, and slathered in sour cream. You can tell that this place has the potential to be awesome they just need some more authentic recipes and spice. The place its self was really pretty and spacious although the music was playing so loud it was borderline disorienting, you’ll find yourself screaming to speak to anyone you might be sharing your meal time with. Mex on main has the potential to be a great authentic Mexican spot in CT but it’s just not really worth the money or the time to go out, when you can make better food for cheaper at home. ♀️ ♀️

Ive eaten at this place dozens of times, and honestly this place has grown on me. I mostly get it to go. But the last two times ive eaten inside the restaurant and the food was better eaten hot fresh-immediately. I usually get the classic tacos. They are more like what you make at home think (old el paso ground beef tacos) But its seasoned well, beans and rice cooked well and i think the tacos hit. I enjoy it very much. I also like the shrimp tacos the baja sauce is amazing and shrimp are never overcooked. Left off a star because the tortilla chips are horrible here they taste stale and like the fryer. and they use styrofoam for everything.

I’ve been to a couple of Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area you’re better off spending your money at El Sol Deli or El Gallo Dorado. The food is really expensive here you don’t get a bang for your buck. The burrito was subpar at best, Chips lack salt , the Salsa Verde had 0 flavor. Your money is better spent across town. I mean they are essentially selling tacos at 6 bucks a pop that’s insane.

Owner runs the register, she’s very nice. Menu is varied. Everything is made fresh to order. Most expensive item is the chicken fajitas $12.49 (9/2021). I had the chicken chimichanga, came with spanish rice, black beans, chips and salsa from the salsa bar ($11.49). It was so good, I ordered the chili lime salad to go for lunch tomorrow, they separated the hot stuff and packed it to go without asking, nice touch! Grubhub and Door Dash friendly. They’re across from Home Depot and next to the Shell gas station.

I ordered to go and had minor errors by the time I got home. As for the food I did get, the quantity is highway robbery! I ordered the chicken fajitas and there’s barely enough chicken to make 2 fajitas, mostly vegetables than anything. Quality of the food was mediocre, not worth it in my opinion.

I came here for the first time with my partner because another spot was too packed and I was hungry. I have to say the food was delicious, friendly staff and polite, very clean, and they have lots of green sauce to take on the salad bar. We ordered chicken Chimichangas and tacos. Plain nachos were in the house. Excellent service and plenty of parking too. Come and enjoy! I recommend. I will definitely come back with my kids next time.

The food was good, not great.
The service was similar to what you get if you walk in Mcdonalds…nothing special.
The room is dark not very inviting or warm.
Good for take out. Burritos were not very big…I could eat two, no problem.

Every time I get food here it is subpar. I don’t know why I keep going back and thinking it’ll be better. The shells and chips are always stale. The steak is ALWAYS over cooked & all the meals with veggies in them are extremely greasy. It’s a shame that this is the only Mexican food on this side of town. Has so much potential to be better.
