Metzli Mexican Taqueria used to be one of our favorite places, which makes this experience really disappointing.
The lettuce on our plates and at the salad bar was brown and not fresh, and the guacamole was insanely brown and clearly old; not from seasoning. The sour cream also had a beard hair in it (photo attached).
We also ordered steak fries and was given steak that was mostly fat. When it was replaced, they brought carnitas (pork) instead (even though we don’t eat pork) and the fries were undercooked & insanely mushy
On top of all that, the restaurant smelled overwhelmingly like bleach, and charging $3.43 for a small soft drink is astronomical. Overall, the food quality, cleanliness issues, and mistakes were a huge letdown. We won’t be returning.

Not going to lie, the sign is what caught my eye so my hubby and I decided to stop in for lunch. We were super impressed with everything starting with great service. The food was delicious and we consider ourselves Mexican food snobs. We enjoyed our meals and plan to be back again!

Metztli is one of my go-to Mexican spots in Boise. The service is always friendly and on point, and the food comes out fast and piping hot. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and felt like a great value for the quality and portion sizes.
The churros are my favorite — fresh, hot, and exactly how churros should be. Simple, done right, and hard to beat.
Definitely worth checking out if you want solid Mexican food without overpaying.

Great spot for Mexican food in a convenient location! I’ve ordered delivery from here a few times before and just thought it was ok, but the food is a lot better fresh, so I recommend dining in. I dined in this evening with my wife and kids and we all left pretty full and happy. We had a big order but the food came out quickly, fresh and piping hot. The salsa bar was clean, very fresh looking, and had a good amount of generous selections. Chips were free with our order too. Although a bit pricey for what we typically are used to spending on good Mexican food (I’m originally from San Diego), the portions were a lot bigger than expected. So we basically got two meals-worth with our purchase and will enjoy some good leftovers tomorrow.
The place itself was clean, well designed/decorated, and the folks working there were super friendly, attentive, and helpful. Definitely coming back here with the fam

First time visit! We were greeted warmly by the friendly staff, great first impression! The menu is pretty extensive, with lots of options ranging from budget friendly to higher end signature dishes to a selection of breakfast burritos we’re going to have to come back for! We ended up just grabbing some chips and house-made guacamole and having some appetizers. All of it was excellent, we highly recommend the al pastor! There’s also a salsa bar to kick up the heat!
Our server, Tory, was very friendly, and even brought us complementary churros for dessert!
The atmosphere is a relaxed sports bar vibe with huge screens, visible from every seat in the house. Great place for a quick, casual, delicious meal when you’re craving Mexican food.

My friends and I decided to try this place out since it was so close by and we were craving some Mexican food. The reviews made it look nice. The inside was clean, very modern. It was quite beautiful! I was happy to be there. Then we got home and tried the food. The fries looked incredibly undercooked. The meat was extremely fatty. Overall, it lacked flavor and was meh. The fish tacos I had were overrun by the taste of cilantro. Don’t get me wrong, I like cilantro. But it looked wet and cooked? The whole thing tasted like cilantro. I took some off, and the fish tacos were super bland. Lacked any flavor. The avocados were overripe and turning black. The beans and rice were the only good thing. My other friend got the fajita de Camerones and they were also very bland. Even with the bell peppers and onion. The shrimp were nice and big, which was awesome. But the whole thing was also meh. Overall? It wasn’t worth 44$ and we’d get a refund if we could. Would not recommend and we won’t be returning unfortunately.

If I could give a zero stars I would. This restaurant got recommended by some friends and so we were excited to try it. When we walked in there was only one couple ahead of us and after we finished ordering we sat for 45 minutes waiting for our food. All the while other people came in and ordered food, ate, and left while we were still waiting. When we asked what was taking so long, we were told “they had smaller orders so we did them first”. Just to be clear we ordered 4 burritos. That is not how you make first time customers want to come back. Finally after getting our food we opened our boxes to find that not only were the items not to what the descriptions said on their menu, but our burritos were less than 10% protein and did not taste good at all. We are extremely unhappy and would recommend that no one come to this establishment.

Came with my family who ordered a burrito and tacos. The tacos don’t come with pico, radish or cilantro, just meat with beans and rice. The dry burrito also came with beans and rice, but the burrito itself is pretty bland. The atmosphere is nice, and the service wasn’t bad. My family really wanted to like the food more.
