We were expecting to get a good sammi but got a lot of lettuce on our bread. I had roast beef with Swiss and all the fixings and #11 is salami, capicola, prosciutto and provolone with fixings. There was 2 slices of roast beef on one and the Italian sub had one slice of each ingredient. I think you can spare a few more slices of meat. Not worth the $30 I could have made it much better. I don’t know what everyone is talking about

I recently visited Metcalfs and ordered a #4. In the past I’ve loved this sandwich. What was supposed to be a hearty, meaty masterpiece instead was… a lettuce dissertation. A leafy manifesto. A chlorophyll-forward reinterpretation of what a sandwich could be, as if one boldly removed the meat, the flavor, and arguably the joy.

Bravo, I went to the Pumpkin Festival and ate at your sandwich shop. After we ordered our sandwiches we were sitting on your deck. It was bad timing as it was the start of the races. It became uncomfortable when people were trying to stand on your deck to watch the races. The uncomfortable part was people standing over us as we were trying to eat. Thank you for having someone there to remind the spectators that your deck was for patrons and not spectators. Thank for the professionalism in getting confrontational people to leave. Finished dinner with your delicious whoopie pies to go. Can’t wait to have the opportunity to eat at your establishment again as all of the food was spectacular

We loved these subs! Freshly made bread, and lightly seasoned with oil vinegar and oregano, unique Italian meats and huge!Family run and casual environment with lovely view. A nice complement to abundant seafood stops everywhere. If you don’t appreciate family run, fresh or casual, steer clear. Now a favorite stop! Will be back!

Back here for the first time since coming with my Mom and Dad in 1985. We took our subs to Pemaquid Pt. then and did it again today with my family. Still the best subs and the best spot to eat them.

Best Pastrami sandwich you will find outside of NYC!!!!!! Great people, great family-friendly vibe, great water views, great location, decent prices, really possibly the best sandwich shop in Maine! Don’t waste your time and money at Amatos or Sams, go to Metcalf’s if you want a great sandwich, with great ingredients, served on great bread!!!!
