Somewhere in Michigan, there’s a town called Dryden. For the purpose of this review, it is unimportant except that it seems to have a road named after it. If you follow that road west, it takes you to Metamora.
Metamora has an amazing general store (coffee and wine bar) where fun, fashion, and fare coexist in a beautifully eclectic space. From beignets to cookies the size of a small child’s head, the pastries and baked goods are wonderful. The staff is attentive and the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed.
The town isn’t exactly on the beaten path but that adds to the charm of the shop. When you find it (or stumble upon it like we did), it just makes it all the more welcoming. Sincerely, go look for this one. It’s worth the stop.

We decided to take a short drive north to Metamora and stroll through this quaint historical district.
One of our stops was the Metamora General across from the historical White Horse Inn. The Metamora General was originally a gas station back in the 1920s and converted into a unique gift shop, coffee and wine bar, apparel and interesting decor for sale.
Upon opening the door, Christmas decorations were out and as you stepped down, you knew this was a fun place to visit just to look around.
PS – the cookies look amazing!

Super cute store! Lots of gift merchandise. Good selection of wine. Small seating area to enjoy drinks and snacks. Great to check out when waiting for a table at the White Horse Inn.

This one stop shop has it all, wine bar, food and plenty of one of a kind treasures. It has a nice outdoor gathering space in the downtown of Metamora. Lots of local Michigan made products, I want to try all the treats, I think I could have a different one every day of the month.

THE most beautiful general store. Has a coffee bar, contemporary-chic style with gorgeous seating available. See pics! The gift store side is full of unique items, not like what you would find in most stores. Plus, there’s even an antiques area! The design of this place was well thought out. It was hard to leave, it’s so cozy. Across the street from the White Horse Inn, it’s a perfect place to head to for some extra fun in town.

We stopped for coffee. They have bakery items and the cookies were so decadent. They also carry convenience food, ice cream, and bottled drinks. They have gift items and eclectic general merchandise. There’s a sitting area and the place is clean and nicely decorated. Well worth a stop.
