Mesilla Kitchen is hands down some of the best Mexican food I’ve had! The flavors are authentic, rich, and perfectly seasoned you can tell everything is made with care. From the fresh salsas to the perfectly cooked meats, every bite tastes homemade and full of tradition.

The portions are generous, the ingredients taste fresh, and the presentation is beautiful. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and attentive without being overwhelming.

If you’re craving real, flavorful New Mexican food that feels like it was made in someone’s kitchen with love.

As I usually say, I kept hearing about this place for MONTHS. But then my roommate was curious so we went. It was decent!

Finding parking here was a bit tough. They have very few spots (which get filled up quickly) so then you gotta find street parking & hope you don’t obstruct traffic.

When we went in, the setting was very narrow & the layout felt scattered. Random chairs on front & cramped seating. But we don’t have to wait long for a table.

Ordering here works by paper & clicking a button to have a waiter assist you. We were done with our papers & pressed button but don’t receive any help for over 5 minutes until we had to press again. I’m assuming they forgot but felt kind of awkward. We also noticed the table next to us had 3 patrons of which one was eating food. We assumed his friends finished eating but they got their food much later than he did.

Once we got our drinks, the horchata was tasty but very sweet. Slightly boring. Appetizers were right after. Chips were a mix of old/new chips with the old ones being very chewy/soaked of oil. Very unpleasant but the guacamole itself was good.

Food came and the portions are huge- kinda what you expect for the price. Burrito was yummy & filled. Not dry at all. Meat for both dishes was a bit chewy. Rice was good with the refried beans but the beans felt like they just came out of a can & added cheese on top.

The place is alright. It’s mid service at most with 2 meals on one plate if you take leftovers to go. Would be an alright place with a group of friends as long as they don’t have everyone else watching one guy eat.

Good: the Food is good even by American / California standards, so this is gonna be excellent by Okinawa standards. The Horchata is pretty good but is kinda average by American taste, not bad, just like as good as home. Both the food here will definitely fill that hole you have in your heart. And the portion size is great for US stomach as well.

The atmosphere is really where it shine! Absolutely feels like the Southwest of America.

Bad: not impressed by the service. The staffs were rude or anything but the there needs to be some management. It was a busy night, so waiting was expected. But what was frustrating was they didn’t seat customers based on their sign up book. You could just walk in right when a table is emptying, bypassing everyone else that had signed up or been waiting.

Once we were seated, customers were served based on proximity to staffs. The call buttons really didn’t do any good.

This is worth coming, but would recommend to go if services matter to you.

Best Mexican food place on the island. My wife amd I had the cheese enchilada plate and they were fantastic. My only issue was they were cold. Most Mexican places you can’t touch the plate because it was in the oven, but plates were cold and so was the food. Great flavor though. Boys had the pork Gordita plate and the pork was good and the shell might have been the best thing on the menu. Daughter had a quesadilla and they were skimpy with the cheese. Horchata is creamy and cinnamony as it should be. Get the sopapillas!

We will be back to try their breakfast burritos.

GO FOR TAKEOUT! I’ll start by saying the food is excellent and worth the line you’ll see out the door. The portions are American sized so expect to take food home with you. Pretty close the quality of Mexican food you’ll find in America.

Now for the bad though, we waited over an hour for 2 people to be seated on a Saturday night. One table sat empty for about 30 minutes of that hour and then they let someone else in ahead of us who signed the waitlist about 20 min after us. The food was good enough that we’ll come back but likely just for takeout, which we saw plenty of coming and going while we were waiting so they seem to have a kitchen very capable of putting the food out quickly. Better sit down service management would boost this place to a 5 star top establishment around Kadena

Love coming here! We have been a few times & each time, our craving for Midwest Mexican food is carved! The horchata is the best we’ve had in the island & meats are so tender! Gets busy quick! If you have a larger party may want to call ahead for tables to be adjusted.
A bit closer to American prices just a heads up for our meal it was like ¥7000 (¥1700 Gorditas, ¥2200+ burritos, ¥550 per drink (horchata & agua de fresco) then taxes. Came out to like ¥6500-¥7000

Never in a million years would I have said I found authentic New Mexican food this far away from home. I am a New Mexico native and I can say this is as close as you can get in Japan, understand that with restrictions/availability of ingredients. That being said, this is a phenomenal restaurant with quality food and a great staff. The food portions are enormous and the absolutely delicious! The staff are attentive and professional. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and there is seating inside. I highly highly recommend a visit to anyone who enjoys Hispanic foods and especially to any of my New Mexican friends!

Had a great meal. Carne Asada enchiladas, horchata, and sopillapias for dessert. Very tasty. Reminded me of home in New Mexico. Would definitely eat there again next time we visit Okinawa.

Stumbled upon this place while out running errands and decided to dine in for a quick bite. I have heard of this restaurant from close friends who have eaten here recently!

It gives SOCAL! Imagine my excitement for someone who has lived in SoCal before relocating here in 2018! I’ve had to learn to make it myself at home! Humble flex!

Let’s start with atmosphere, parking was limited. I walk in and I am greeted by a familiar face from a classmate/friend of my daughters’. There was a decent size party size already seated when I was seated.

You smell the aroma from the different carne’s sizzling, the smokiness from the flat grill/stove. All wonderful scents!

Would be nice to come here for tacos and margs with friends during dinner time!

Service is amazing and pretty quick even with the large party before me. You wrote on a paper what your orders are hit the button and they will retrieve your order!

I ordered 3 items. Taco Plate (taco choice was 2 carne asadas) for me on site anf 2 California burrito’s to go! These plates come with rice and beans! Yum!

They have containers to contain sauces you wish to pack with you!

Delicioso! I almost almoooost finished my food! The meat was tender, fatty and nicely flavored. Not salty at all!

SALSA’S! Made in house! Always a tell tell sign!!! 2 sauces available at each table is red and orange! The orange hot sauce was spicy, but the perfect spice for me! The red sauce isn’t spicy at all to my recollection!

Food is delicious here! My kids killed their food!

Limited parking.
Be careful parking because I almost took my bumper not realizing that the cement parking had two heights, and I got caught in it.

A very small restaurant, had to wait about 10 minutes for a table as a single person. The food was also not what you’d find in the states, it was okay I guess but nothing like back home. Overall I probably will not be coming back though the portions were very large and a pretty good deal.
