My wife and I really enjoyed our experience here. The interior is just a fun, rustic look and the staff was very nice. The bagels were good and had plenty of cream cheese on them. I tried a rye bagel which I had never had before and it was great! A very unique flavor, but I enjoyed it.

I just moved to downtown Kansas City and decided to try this cute little bagel shop. I was overly delighted when I took a bite of the everything bagel! It had a nice, chewy texture. I tried the jalapeno schmear and my daughter got the Oreo schmear. Incredibly delicious!! We will definitely be back!

Not quite sure how Pete did it, but he managed to get my review taken down well, I’m back again to tell you the facts about this odd little bagel shop. The owners had to be threatened with legal action and a Department of Labor investigation in order to change their practice of keeping all of the tips employees earned. I know, & I have the receipts. You wouldn’t believe the sniveling excuses he made for keeping employees’ tips, and some were so egregious that I doubt you’d believe them. While doing this, he was vacationing in France with his wife and letting his daughter run the restaurant. After a conversation in which the DOL website had to be referenced multiple times, he has apparently changed his ways…or that specific practice, anyway. Good for Pete! The last thing our community needs is …business owners… leaning into stereotypes. (; As a customer, the food is good (well ..that may be a stretch) but certainly not worth the exorbitant pricing, unless you are already extremely out of touch and don’t mind your single bagel hitting the double digits. The coffee is amazing, and you can thank a completely different local entity for that. Service has always been pleasant & wonderful, especially at the location on 31st (I tend to avoid the downtown one… )…especially when the owners are not present. All in all, it’s a dollar store product priced for the bourgeoisie. One final thought; if you like all your teeth where they are, and don’t eat hockey pucks on a regular basis, request that they toast your bagel. They might charge extra for that, I truly don’t know, but it will save you some dental bills in the long run.

I was very excited to see a bagel shop while walking the streets of downtown, even more excited that it was called Meshuggah. I went in and got a smoked salmon and cream cheese, with capers, onion and tomato. There could have been a lot more capers added, but overall it wasn’t a bad bagel, but it definitely wasn’t the best. If you are craving a bagel, it will do the trick.

I absolute this place. The bagels are immaculate. Hard crunchy outside, soft inside. Good amount of cream cheese. Good coffee. Every time I travel to KC for work I go out of my way to com to Meshuggah Bagels!!

I used to live in Kansas City and this is still by far my favorite bagel place. Excellent bagels and even more excellent schmeers with lots of variety! Staff is always wonderful and welcoming too. Do yourself a favor and stop by, I do everytime I’m in town.

I grew up in NYC. I never know what to expect when getting a bagel anymore, especially in the Midwest, where I live now. Even when I visit my sisters in NYC a lot of the bagels are way bigger and doughier than the bagels of my youth.
So I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped in at Meshuggah Bagel. They are the correct size and tasty. The cream cheese was delightfully creamy and fresh, and the perfect consistency. I did not get it toasted. I prefer the texture of a fresh bagel, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
You won’t get a NYC atmosphere here though. The place is spotlessly clean, and the staff is friendly and pleasant. To me, that’s a good thing.

This cozy little shop had the best bagels with quick service. I ordered an everything bagel with everything schmear and dark roast coffee. The cashier was friendly as she took my order. Bagel was served warm with a lot of schmear to satisfy my craving. The coffee was strong and a great taste. I also loved the little shop with it’s wooden table and chair aesthetic that’s great for a slow morning or meeting a friend. Overall, great place to grab a quick breakfast or satisfy a bagel craving.

The bagels are fine, but much more bread than bagel. They are nothing like a dense, chewy and crusty bagel. The “rye” bagel lacked rye flour and was just a plain bagel with caraway seeds, which were left off the “everything” bagel.
The atmosphere was confusingly Country French. Meshugah, but not in the way expected.
