First time coming here, and we were thoroughly impressed. The food was excellent—every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. It is a bit on the pricey side, but absolutely worth it for the quality and overall experience.
Our waitress, Sheila was outstanding. We came with a group of nine, and she managed everything effortlessly. She was attentive without being intrusive, quick to follow up on anything we needed, and genuinely pleasant from start to finish. Her service alone made the evening feel special.
The atmosphere was truly one of a kind. Spanish Christmas music played softly in the background the entire time, creating a warm and festive vibe. Combined with the beautiful Christmas lights decorating the restaurant, it made the whole place feel magical and inviting.
We’ll definitely be returning the next time we’re in town. Highly recommended!

I was walking and saw this place with a friend and thought we would stop and have some drinks. We were greeted by our server Jacob (who resembled a young Johnny Depp) that had such a lovely demeanor not to mention, a very bright Aura! I ordered a blood orange margarita that without a doubt would recommend everyone to try..as i enjoy my cocktail i scan every square inch of what i would call a clean and lovely decor but what amazed me was how immaculate the place was! I complimented the Manager Shawn if I recall his name correctly and the lovely Danielle on how it was a lovely restaurant! I wish i didnt have dinner plans that night so I could try the food of the Chef from Mexico city who i hear whips up outstanding Mexican cuisine! I already told my friends about it and we shall return to try the food there! So watch out for my next review of Mesa, a must experience place!!!! Ask for Jacob! He will truly give you a good dining experience and dont forget to try the Blood Orange Margarita listed under the Traditional Margarita section of the menu! Buen appetito!

Our waitress was so amazing, very attentive and positive despite the restaurant being busy and she was genuinely the sweetest. We got the taco flights and all three tacos were very good for both people. The real stars were their (mini) freakshakes though. The churro was the best milkshake ive ever had. Our favorite tacos were the pescado and the alambre. It was definitely pricey though; the only downside.

My server was the absolute dream. The flights of frozen beverages and menu in general was aesthetic and even my poor ass thought the prices weren’t bad for all I got.
I love you guys thank you!
But the best part by far is, we were at the place next door the next day and our server from mesa (who’s name I’m kicking myself over, beautiful young lady with a heart of gold) came and thanked us for over patronage the night before.
We were all extremely impressed and we will return!

Best chocolate shake ever! Tacos were awesome. Husband loved the fajitas. They asked about allergies before ordering and Bruce our waiter was knowledgeable about everything on the menu and even offered awesome suggestions! He deserved the double tip! My birthday dinner was the best I’ve had in a long time. Thanks to the staff for everything

Tried Mesa for the first time. Restaurant was decorated with festive holiday decor. There are outdoor igloos available for reservation, tables inside on the main level, and seating upstairs too. Larger parties cannot be accommodated upstairs for the themed dining experience. We visited to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant did not do anything special to recognize the customer celebrating their birthday. The food was decent. I did enjoy my salad. Two members of our party ordered specialty items- the massive burrito and the massive taco. Service was a bit on the slow side. There were things we ordered that never arrived to the table including sauce for the massive burrito, and jalapeños for the massive taco. The shakes were fun, but read the fine print and order them about 20 minutes prior to planning on eating them so they can prepare them. The tables are close together in the main dining area so there is a specific direction and flow you need to be aware of to make it to the restroom.
Would recommend if you want some fun dessert shakes for if you have a big eater that wants to challenge themselves to tackle the massive burrito or taco.
Parking was not bad, typical Royal Oak. We lapped the block a few times and found street parking. If you prefer a parking structure, that is just a few blocks away.

Found myself in Royal Oak for work on a random Monday and tacos were calling my name. After doing a quick google search and asking a buddy that lived down that way, we decided on Mesa. The chips and salsa were great, loved the seasoning on the chips. I went with a trifecta of tacos, as you can see in my photo, and each one was delish. She went with the Birria Ramen which I tasted and have to say, I need to go back and order that dish for myself. It was amazing. To wash it all down, we with with the special Christmas margaritas. I look forward to coming back and trying more things.

Gave Mesa a second chance as my first experience was slacking on service. This time service was great. I was a little disappointed that happy hour prices only applied if you dined at the bar. Food tasted good & fresh, but a bit pricey for the portion sizes. They should do complimentary chips & salsa to make the experience stand out more. Margarita flight & Drunk on the beach marg were really good!
We sat at a booth and the art decor on the wall were covered in dust and drink/food splatters. So housekeeping could be better as no one wants to see that when they’re eating (see pics).
It may not be my first choice for a Mexican restaurant, but I’ll keep it in mind if I’m in the area with friends
