Merry-Go-Round – eatAspen
The Merry-go-Round restaurant on Aspen Highlands Mountain is a great place to ski in and out of before and after your hike up Highlands Bowl.

Great pitstop for a drink or hot chocolate after being on the mountain all day. A little pricey though.

I built my own salad and it was tasty but $17.50! The atmosphere is loud as it’s a busy place but the music was great while I was there, mostly classic rock.

They have a good selection of food and are pretty efficient at getting it out as well. It’s really expensive, but it is on top of a mountain in a remote area. It is nice to sit outside in sunny warm days as well. It’s even better to huddle inside in super cold days for a break.

Fun fact: this place is a repurposed Safeway building from back in the day!
Seating can be tricky mid day. Good selection is good but pricey. Grab a seat in the lounge area, but make sure you can still have enough energy to ski later!

Reviewing solely for atmosphere. Clean, nice decor, not crowded when we were there on a snowy low viz Monday. Half the group bought lunch there and the other half brought lunch. I was one of the folks that brought lunch. None of the staff seemed to mind except for one person who walked past, stared a bit at me eating my sandwich, and then continued on to the table next to ours to buss it.

On mountain dining is usually expensive and often crowded during busy times, but it makes up with a quick service, a satisfying meal and, as it is the case in the area, lovely scenery. Have a beer outside in the Spring and appreciate life. Cheers!

Love skiing Highlands, but the food at Merry Go Round is consistently both the slowest and the worst tasting out of all the Aspen Snowmass lodges. Even the simplest items were borderline inedible upon a recent visit: chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, and pizza were all easily the worst version of each I’ve had in over a year. If you are gonna charge Aspen prices, at least make it halfway decent. I hope they consider revamping the food program for next season.

So I am editing a previous review that I wrote when I was 11 on this place because I feel it was a little bit too scathing. What happened was that my friend JJ forgot his money or his ski pass wasn’t working to pay for his food at the front. The man didn’t want to make him go put all the food back and make him be hungry for the rest of the day so he said that JJ could take the food and the man made another way to get the money later. Just a few minutes later the same thing happened to my friend sienna and her card wasn’t working. But this time the cashier sent her back and asked her to return the food, Sienna was very upset that she didn’t get her food but it was understandable. When all of these events had just occurred I felt the need to write a rather harsh review and so I did and then I just forgot about it. Then this review came up at the dinner table about nine months later and so I decided to look at it. I suddenly felt really bad about it because I have had so many great experiences at The Merry Go Round and it it a great and convenient place to eat when you have been skiing hard and need a rest. This was just one bad experience that I had but I have had many great ones here.
