I was told not to leave Boise without stopping here. Check. And I was told once you stop here do not leave your table without having a scone. Check! Absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere. And an awesome set of servers and cooks. They work smoothly and move efficiently like a well oiled machine. Even having enough time, in the middle of giving us wonderful service, to debate whether Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Aniston was prettier!
I completely enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Thank you for a great breakfast! Im glad I listened to the recommendation to stop here.

The scones were amazing! Our family of four each tried different varieties. The service was outstanding and very friendly. Before we even sat down, one of the woman working said, “let me change out that chair for one of our new chairs.” Construction on State St requires an approach from the downtown Boise direction, but it was easy for us to turnaround at an intersection to approach from the requisite direction. So happy we visited on vacation! Go to Merritt’s if you’re in the Boise area!

I don’t try to disrespect anybody especially. when it’s basically a Mom and Pop legacy restaurant. Meaning it has a really good rapport overall with the community. But it was definitely not their day. It took forever to get the food out it was cold when it arrived. they forgot to get us forks for the entire table. And considering they’ve been dealing with construction and it’s hard to get into their parking lot. You’d think they would be happy to have customers. And would attempt to be a little more on it. As far as I could tell they were fully staffed. There may be some things I’m unaware of. Call me crazy though if I’m paying 20 bucks a plate for four or five people I want the food to be decent and what I ordered. I didn’t just order toast and eggs it was all steak plates. Well three of them were. So a pass for me.

I have driven passed Merrits for 25 yrs, never went in for whatever reason. Took my Aunt in yesterday and OMGoodness, let me tell you. The food was delish!! The staff was awesome, friendly, service was great. My Aunt and I go out often just for new experiences and whatnot. I think Merrit’s is the beat restaurant wwe have been too in the last 2 years since shes been in Idaho. It is definitely worth the drive we have to make over the hill to go back! And we will be going back! Great place and there scones, specially there nuggets, it was like eating a cloud! Amazing!!

Was very loud and crowded. Tables were very close together and we waited an hour for our food which was a chicken fried steak that they say is hand breaded in house. However, I would not say its breaded at all. It was extremely thin, dry, and looked like maybe they dipped it in an egg wash then a few packs crumbs. The scones was great but the drive there is about 45 mins from the freeway via GPS because we are not from the area. Service was great but parking was a nightmare. Overall I wouldn’t drive there or eat there again.

Had an amazing meal at Merritt’s Family Restaurant in Boise! The 3-egg omelet with smoky chicken, tomatoes, cheese, and mushrooms was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The food was top-notch, but the real highlight was our waitress, Kayla, who was an absolute gem—super friendly and attentive! The cozy vibe and great service made it a memorable stop. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving a hearty, satisfying meal!

I went with my family. The food was delicious. The scone was bigger than my hand, which surprised me. Our waitress, Keilah, was very pleasant and attentive.

What a fantastic little spot! It’s rustic and cozy inside. Perfect for breakfast! Our server Keilah was an absolute joy. Quick, funny and just all around made our experience brighter. I had the taco omelette which was probably one of the best omelettes I’ve ever had. My husband said the same about his which was the Smokey Chicken! We shared a biscuits and gravy. 12/10 stars if I could. We will for sure be back!

We had a great breakfast here in definitely an old time diner atmosphere – fantastic! We started with one of their famous scones – delicious. I had the biscuit deluxe. Toasted biscuit open faced, with a patty sausage, then eggs, cheese and finally gravy! A real Saturday belly-wad! My wife had the taco omelet and really enjoyed the flavors. Well worth it!

The people were all very friendly. Including some of the Patrons. It is family owned and has been passed down from generation to Generation. The food was excellent with large portions. The restaurant has that old time Diner feel because it is genuinely an old time Diner that is still run with that same family atmosphere. The people that come there are mostly regulars but the occasional traveler such as ourselves that finds this little gem will feel included.
