I came here for a breakfast sandwich the service, atmosphere was okayt he place was clean. I ordered a steak egg and cheese with grilled onions on a hard roll with hashbrowns. What they gave me was this sub it only had a small amount of meat that covered the front part the hash brown was basic, but everything was edible. I would love to try lunch here, hopefully, for a better food experience. What you see if what you get…

First time there today, had a fried onion hot dog and onion rings. Cooked to perfection. Husband had a chili dog and a cheeseburger and loved both. Everyone working was friendly and patient, like I said it was our first time and there was lots to look at! For sure plan on going back again soon!

I bit into a fried oreo, felt it slimy & raw as I was chewing it so I spit it out & called the waiter over to show them. The manager walked over & said “that’s just how the dough is because it’s frozen, they just put it to fry”. I asked her to come back to show her a perfectly cooked oreo on my plate. She said she’s not able to take them back cause we already bit into it. Obviously, I was just looking for a replacement, or something, not for them to refry the oreos. I’ve never experienced such horrible service at Merritt Canteen before & that lady has been working there longer than I’ve been alive. She should take customer service classes & learn how to deal with customers correctly. I will not be eating here again.

The little Spongebob lady that runs the front end of store like its the Krusty Krab was snotty, extremely rude and just unpleasant. I recently placed an order and received uncooked fries. So I brought them back and explained the situation. I didn’t want a refund, I just asked for fresh fries. She said the fries were “fine” and if I wanted a new batch, they would have to charge me. My thing is.. Its literally just fries, it’s not like they couldn’t accommodate me and just toss a few in the fryer for a couple minutes. I been coming here for yearsss and she’s always been rude and unprofessional. I know they say “if the service is horrible the food is good” but even then food has saved fell off. I wouldn’t recommend you guys even waste your time or money.

They used to fry their hotdogs but they deep fry them which isn’t really bad, and they won’t dry it for you if you ask them to. They used to give you a decent amount of fries, and better fries than what they’re now serving. I’m talking like about 15 little pinky finger fries. I now don’t get hotdogs and order my fries elsewhere..

Jan. 31, 2026 – Ordered a cheeseburger, hot dog and fries through Doordash. Bit into the burger and it was red, not cooked inside – it was inedible. This looked like it was walked through a warm kitchen. The fries were small end pieces, like from the bottom of the bag. If I could go there I would have returned them. I called and the manager said “Oh, we must have made a mistake. Call Doordash.” Lesson learned, not ordering from Merritt Canteen again.

Chilli dogs are hot . But I’m not telling anybody anything they don’t already know because if you’ve not been under a rock you’ve probably been there The staff is so friendly so organized the place is clean as a whistle dine in take out. I will be a regular for sure!

I love this place. If I had to compare it to In and Out, I would say the difference between both places is the bread. Overall, the best burger in town. This is what fast-food should be!
A must try if you are around and want fast food but want real burgers. I am a regular, def. ask for Mochi. She’s the best and is super friendly. The restaurant has been around since 1942. It was also in the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives because it’s so amazing!
If you don’t know what to order just get a cheeseburger with the works. I’ve eaten other things on the menu but their burgers are a must try. Just beware, their chili-cheese hotdog is very spicy. Not a regular spicy, more of a sweating type of spicy. You will need water or a milkshake. My toddler loves their milkshakes. If you get a milkshake, they will give you a medium size. So, specify if you want a small.
