Did we wait for our table w a reservation? yes. Did we wait a little bit for our food? Yes.
Was it worth it? 100%!!
They were short handed and definitely hustling but the manager came over with a tea bread (amazing)for the table and let us know right away. The food was delicious and hot when served there was a small error with an order and it was fixed very quickly.
Can’t speak highly enough for liz and the Merriland farm Cafe team .
DEFINITELY recommend a reservation and the crepes
My friend and I were walk-in, arrived at 9am and were told it would be about an hour wait. It’s such a peaceful spot that we ended up finding a spot to sit nearby the parking until we were seated.
Food came fast and was delicious! Great GF (gluten free) options. And, our serving staff and the hostess were very friendly.
**Also note: Slightly comical and also disheartening to read reviews of other patrons not having some patience and grace for staff at the Café during peak tourism season. Your serving staff are humans – please treat them so. There’s a risk in trying to walk-in any spots in coastal and southern ME in summer and early fall seasons – so keep that in mind. It’s well worth the wait and I recommend if you’re on a time crunch to reserve a table ahead of time.
I’ll start with my food, the Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes. I got mine with Maine Maple Syrup. The brightness of the blueberries is beautifully rounded out by the buttery richness of the cake itself. I tried it with the chantilly cream that came with my fiancees crepes and dear sweet lord baby Jesus it brought a tear to my eye.
Speaking of the crepes, my fiancee ordered the lemon crepes with strawberry coulis. The tang of those fruits combined with the crepes and cream made the bite that I received memorable to say the least.
The sides, contrary to their name, nearly stole the show. The grilled muffin (orange, cherry and chocolate when we went) was lovely, the bacon straight-up melts in your mouth, and the house potatoes made us feel like fools for requesting condiments before trying them (we ended up going without using them upon taking a first bite).
To summarize, it’s hard to recall a breakfast as delicious, filling, and sensitive-stomach-safe as the meal we were graced with at Merriland Farm Cafe. We were seated immediately without a reservation, but I would happily wait an hour for a table should the need arise at a later visit. Our server, Tracy, was not only incredibly attentive to our table, but was immensely helpful to a table with severe dietary restrictions near us (Tracy, you rocked it!) An absolute triumph of a meal and a must-try when you’re in the area.
P.S – the cold brew was amazing as well ^-^
