I only prefer few restaurants in Lexington for American cuisine and I’ll be adding Merrick inn to the list. Everything was perfect from the dinner to the vintage setting and the service. I was totally satisfied with the taste and the portions, can’t wait to go back.

I had such a lovely time at Merrick Inn Restaurant! As a lover of history, it especially was nice to get to eat dinner at such a lovely historical building with such deep relevance to Kentucky culture and history.

First, my food was great! It came out super quickly and was delicious with very large portion sizes. I had the Pecan Crusted Pork Tenderloin. it was great and the sauce it was prepared with was wonderful and very unique. It truly felt like some thing that I couldn’t just make it home or get anywhere. It was very worth trying and worth the money. Beyond that, the baked potato was cooked perfectly and the asparagus was some of the best asparagus I’ve ever had. The seasoning on it was perfect, and it was juicy, but still cooked very well. I also had the Pear and Sage Martini, Apple Cider Gin Sour, and creme brulee. They were all delicious. The cocktails really were very great and creative. I loved everything I ate.

My server, Kate, was extremely sweet and so helpful. She went out of her way multiple times to help me make decisions on what I was going to get, and gave great honest opinions on her recommendations. She was very quick, so friendly and welcoming to me, and very professional. I was so pleased with her kindness and service.

I did have a bit of an odd experience with the valet parking, as the person made me feel very stupid for not understanding valet parking (I’m pretty young and not really familiar with these fancy places/valet parking and was just treating myself to a nice meal before moving away from Lexington). They made me feel very bad for not understanding that it was valet, saying “hence the cars all backed in” and some other things. I just didn’t realize it was valet and it hurt my feelings, and I ended up parking my car and sitting in it for about 15 minutes debating on going somewhere else because I was unsure if maybe the restaurant was only for super fancy patrons who maybe would already understand the valet parking, etc. However, I think they realized that it hurt my feelings a bit because they did help me find the other spot and seemed to relax a bit, and were nice to me after I explained that I didn’t understand it. It just made me pretty hesitant on whether I should eat there or not, questioning that I wasn’t the intended demographic.

As I said, the place is absolutely beautiful. It is very historical, too, so if you like to have experiences in places that have a rich history to learn about or that make you feel like you’re a part of a community, this is a really cool place to do that. there are many different rooms, each with different themes or atmospheres. There are some rooms that feel like you could be in a palace, and there are some that feel a little bit more relaxed and have TVs to watch sports on. They even have a lovely and large patio that I’m sure is amazing during the warmer months. I definitely recommend this place, especially if you are looking for a dining experience that feels like quintessential Kentucky. ❤️

Food was delicious and one of if not the best steak I’ve ever had it was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. She had the pecan crusted pork chop and it looked amazing as well. Also had the Creme brûlée and it was wonderful. Staff was attentive and very helpful. The tables were mix matched and ours was very wobbly, almost capsized it a few times. They do have valet parking, if you have any kind of mobility issues use this option as other parking can be a decent walk. Also make a reservation.

Mandy, our server, was amazing—attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming without ever being overbearing. She made the whole experience feel easy and relaxed. The food was incredible, making this a fantastic brunch spot overall. Definitely recommend the beignets—they’re a must. The atmosphere was another highlight; the older home vibe paired with the classy bar areas made it feel both special and cozy.

A true Lexington classic. We are from California and whenever we visit Lexington we usually make a point to eat here.

Service is excellent and the food is always delicious. The steaks are cooked to perfection.

Merrick Inn is a gorgeous, equestrian-themed Lexington establishment that perfectly blends tradition and charm. I thoroughly enjoyed my Berkshire pork chops and the bourbon Keeneland Fall Meet special cocktail – both were excellent. The atmosphere is warm and eclectic without being overly loud, making it a truly worthwhile visit.

I took my wife here for Valentine’s Day, and it was our first time. Honestly, my only complaint is the lack of transparency. Our waitress asked if we wanted to hear about the “specials”, so I said, “Sure”. She named a seafood pasta dish, a sea bass dish, and the prime rib. I asked if one srood out, and she recommended the prime rib. What she didn’t do was tell us the prices. I ordered the prime rib and it was delicious, but I was shocked when the bill was presented … $150. It was then that I notices the prime rib was $70. I’m on my fourth passport, which is to say, I’ve been around the block, and let me tell you, I’ve had prime rib just as good at a free Vegas buffet. This dish was not worth $70, even at the Merrick. No real biggie, but again, the lack of transparency is specifically why I am giving three stars. It sure felt like Kay was just padding my ticket to get a larger tip. I still tipped 20%, but I won’t be back.

Great dinner with friends. We ordered a wide variety of dishes. Peach sangria was wonderful. Lamb chops were awesome but they are loin chops and not rib chops. We had the stewed tomatoes and corn as sides. Both were tasty but could have been served hotter. Great spot for a group dinner. Especially for out of towners like us. Our service was fantastic. Great bar and patio for pre dinner drinks. Free valet parking makes getting in and out a breeze. I’d come again.

We’re from out of town and decided to try Merrick’s based upon the reviews. We weren’t disappointed. The upscale country decor has a distinctly Lexington flair. The service was excellent and the food very good. It was plated beautifully. Sea bass was on the specials menu and was prepared with just the right amount of seasoning. The risotto was ok, not really to our taste, but the fish and other excellent sides more than made up for it. We also had the crab cakes which were generously portioned. We recommend!
