This is such a cool place that offers a large menu with many choices for any type of eater. The atmosphere is what drew us in to try it out and we loved being out on the patio. It was peaceful and we were able to hear the waves and enjoy the view. It was quiet as we got there early, but as it started to fill up for dinner of course the noise level changed the atmosphere as expected so just plan accordingly . The portions are very large- dinners come with 3 sides and garlic bread (which is literally the best garlic bread I’ve ever had and I am a garlic bread lover btw.) Prices are very reasonable for the portions you get. Our food came out quickly, at the right temperature, and cooked just right! We were impressed all the way around. The only negative experience we had was the whole bass, even being deboned, was riddled with bones and my boyfriend was quite disappointed with his choice. The fish was delicious but having to spit and pull out bones in every bite kind of ruined that for him. It wasn’t the restaurant, he just wished he had chosen differently. Our server was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly and helpful since we were visiting from Pennsylvania and we were asking questions and for suggestions. If you’re in this area visiting or if you live here and have never stopped here, I would try this place out!

We decided to stop and have lunch based on some very good reviews. We opted for a New England clam chowder, a clam strip basket and a fish and chips basket. The place was empty so we did not expect too much. We understand it’s probably because it was after the season was already over and shortly before they close down for the season. Wow were we wrong! The service from Patti our server, to the quality and taste of all the food was out of this world! I will say I am old lol, and I’ve been eating clam strips my whole life. And I always thought clam strips were supposed to be somewhat chewy. Oh my God was I so wrong lol all those years. These clam strips were not only seasoned breaded and fried to perfection, but for the first time in all my life, I realize clam strips can be tender if done right! The fish was cooked so perfect, that it fell apart when you tried to touch it and was oh so flavorful! And not to be out done, the fries were cooked in seasoned to perfection as well. And as you could see in my pictures, the New England clam chowder was full of goodness and tasted amazing! Kudos to the whole team for providing this traveler with one of the best meals he’s ever had.

Patti was our server and was very nice and efficient! We enjoyed our meal and would return to Mermaids. I had then seafood kabob and we got the Mediterranean mezze platter for an appetizer. Loved that is has dune front views and is a BYOB!

This review is a bit late but all the more reason to note, came to Cape May w friends this summer for the first time & after arriving & unpacking this was our very first dining spot. Randomly walking a few blocks & this spot ticked off all the boxes, right off the beach, huge space inside, tons of tables & super fast & friendly service. We loved everything, food was delicious & all were very attentive. Pretty big portions, highly recommend!

Server came over and took out order. Brought out our salads. As the server was bringing drinks to another table. She asked did I forget to bring your beverages. Unfortunately yes. In a second later we had our drink order. Then came out the food. Our orders were broil shrimp and scallops – delicious! And seafood dish in red sauce had shrimp scallops mussels and clams.over linguine. That was delicious too! Everything from the salad to the last scallop bite. You can taste the freshness.

Delicious food! We got the crab cakes, mussel pasta, hummus & pita, and the jumbo fried shrimp. Food was great, came with salad & garlic bread. Highly recommend their pasta & shrimp. Our waitress was quite nice and accommodating. The back view was pretty much sky & sand but it was nice to be outside.

I give this 5 stars for an amazing breakfast. The size and quality of the meals were excellent. Add in the best fresh squeezed OJ you’ve ever had and it’s up there for best breakfast food in CM. The service is solid and the atmosphere is ok. It’s pretty bland decor but you’re basically on the beach and can even hear the roar of the waves.
My wife and I both had the skillets, which are an omelette in a skillet with everything wrapped together. I also had the gluten free pancakes. These things are huge(order is 3) and so good I had to question if they were really gf. would recommend you go and bring an appetite because the portions are nice.
