The service was good, but the seafood combination plate was priced by individual items, which made it expensive for the amount provided. The food itself wasn’t as flavorful as expected.

This is a great beachside restaurant. When we walked in we were greeted immediately and were told we could order off the menu on the wall and they would bring our food to us.
There are 3 floors of seating. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. We chose the 3rd floor, outdoors. It is covered. And the breeze made it very comfortable.
There is a good selection of food to choose from. Something for everyone no matter your mood. Fish, burgers, chicken, pulled pork, and even gyros are a few items.
The portion sizes were good. We were impressed with the side of the pickle nickel appetizers. The burger patties are decent sizes also. I enjoyed my cheeseburger. My only complaint is I was hoping for a little more flavor. Other than that, I was very satisfied. And would order again.
Emily at the bar on the second floor was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They offer a good selection of beer. I opted for old reliable Yuengling on tap.
Ample parking near the beach so we didn’t have to walk far to the restaurant at all. Definitely a place to stop in and grab a meal while at the beach.

Great beach atmosphere, right across from the ocean. Service was excellent. I had a grilled grouper sandwich. It was cooked really well. I would return again.

My husband and I visited on a rainy Thursday in mid-September, so peak season was over and there was no wait. We were greeted by a very cheerful and friendly server and given the run-down of how to order. We weren’t super hungry so we ordered a large order of fried catch of the day and a large order of hushpuppies to split. And y’all. Those hushpuppies. They’re the size of cherries and they come to you piping hot with salted honey butter. They’re just heavenly, especially on an overcast evening. The fried fish appetizer, I can’t remember what it was, tasted very fresh. We will absolutely be back for the service and those hushpuppies.

The atmosphere was great, they had a 2nd floor with a bar. You walk up to order your food, seat yourself, and they’ll bring it to you. We ordered drinks so we went to the 2nd floor for dinner and drinks. The best crab cakes I’ve ever had. Everything was cooked very well. Rice pilaf was on point as well as the salad I had. They’ve got the “good” ranch too. Big fan. My daughter loved her chicken tenders and the fries were good. My husband loved his as well. He said the flounder was cooked just right. An overall great meal. Drinks were good too!

When traveling, I like to randomly pick the closest restaurant to me to try it out. Today was a positive experience having a late lunch at mermaids Island Grill. The staff was awesome. as soon as I walked in the door, they explained where the menu was, and answered any other question an individual may have. The simple things like that makes great customer service. The crabcake sandwich with fries was pretty good. I’d ordered it again. They had a good variety on the menu something for everyone. It is a little bit pricey, but as long as I’m getting good food with good customer service, I don’t mind paying a little more. It was not very busy when I arrived. However, when I was getting ready to leave, they were getting pretty busy. One of the best things about mermaids is they have rooftop setting plus outdoor setting. I had the whole roof top to myself the day and loved it!

We went to Mermaids for an early snack and drinks. The service we received was top notch. They even recommended a local seafood spot (Holden Beach Seafood). The fries were incredible and went well with the firecracker shrimp. It was great for an afternoon spot, even with kids. Star was so kind to us.

Food was great. Atmosphere and service were good. My only real complaint is with their soda refill policy. I had a mixed drink and water so it did not apply to me, but wife only drinks soda. So a no free refill policy is silly. Especially when you charge $2.80 for a 16oz. Styrofoam cup, with ice in it you may only get about 8 actual ounces of soda. I think 1 free refill would be reasonable. I do highly recommend the drink called ” Jamaican me crazy”!!
