I planned a Christmas party for fellow massage therapists, and decided to have it at the Mermaid Winery and Restaurant. I’m so glad I did! The food was amazing. The service was even better. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I couldn’t ask for anything better. To be able to get the amount of food that we got and the Ambiance with service was first rate. Will definitely be back again!

We really enjoyed this restaurant, we had the Duck with mashed potato and the lamb with mashed potato which were very tasty, the waiter was very friendly and help us with choosing the best in the menu. I didn’t like that the bathrooms did not have a changing table to change our baby’s diaper and put us in an uncomfortable situation. But apart from that great restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Most review ratings are relative. If you’ve been to an array of really great restaurants then the rating would be based on minute details, differentiating only by a hair. But when my beau and I have had 2 weeks eating at various restaurants here in VA Beach and OBX and Wilmington NC and most are mediocre, Mermaid Winery unequivocally bubbles to the top!
The ambiance is a 5. Feels casual upscale and spacious inside. We got seated in the back room which is a covered patio. Well appointed and cozy.
Service is good. Waitress was friendly.
Food is a 5. Calamari was good. I loved the ahi tuna served with seaweed salad; my beau liked his bison burger.

Nice spot with a huge assortment of wines for all budgets. I had the shrimp and grits. Amazing flavor, but not as hot as I’d like temperature wise, and it was a bit rich for my tastes. My wife had the grilled cheese. It was ok, but she would probably not order it again. Wine flights were tasty.

Charcuterie board was very large. Recommend good appetizers for 4 or brunch for 2 with wine. 5 different types of wines with the wine flights. Great way to find new types of wine you might enjoy!

From food, vibes, and service, everything is great! My husband and I went here for Father’s Day dinner. It was a chill vibe even though the weather was yucky. The food was so tasty! I got my steak, and my husband got shrimp and grits. Kim, our server, was on top of everything and very knowledgeable! Definitely gonna come back here!

We have eaten here a few times and each time have enjoyed. Choose the Winery for News Eves dinner. Every aspect of the dinner was outstanding from the hostess to the dinner. Our waitress was friendly smart and very attentive. We had the spinach dip and mermaid fries as an appetizer. I ordered the lamb shank on a bed of mashed potatoes with carrots, my wife had the Scallops with a raspberry glaze, and our friend had the Bison burger and a steak. Each of us raved over the flavor, timing and overall presentation of each dish. We finished with desert and each was perfection.
We sat and enjoyed each other’s company for about four hours. It was a wonderful night. Many might say $140 is a bit high for two people; I say I would prefer to pay more for excellence.

I had the pleasure of visiting Mermaid Winery and was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. The food was delicious, abd the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Both our server and the hostess check-in regularly, made great recommendations on the wine and food. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was open, artsy and inviting, making it the perfect stop our mid-week beach vacation.

The staff was friendly! The atmosphere was very elegant. We enjoyed the music there! The food was magnificent. The presentation was glorious. Would highly recommend. Mermaid Winery is my new favorite restaurant in Virginia Beach! Their outside patio is open and lovely. They even have fans and heaters outside!
