Wow, the food is SOOOOO DELICIOUS! I’m so upset with myself for not trying this sooner! We had a veggie sampler and a beef dish and all of it was so good. The ladies working there were really nice. There are a few tables up in the front and we ordered at the window in the back with the menu hanging over it. The food was relatively cheap; each fish was $11 or $12 Treat yourself!

First time having Ethiopian food here and it was amazing! The flavors of all the dishes were on point. We ordered two of the beef ribs, one lamb tibs, and two veggie combos for five people and have a lot of food left over. We thought this was just a market and were pleasantly surprised! This will definitely be our “go to” for Ethiopian takeout in Springfield. The ladies were so kind and warm. The place is clean. It was everything we needed to experience.

My partner and I get food from here about once a month for at least a year or 2 now. It is soooo good and delicious every time. The portions are great sizes too. I love their 100% teff injera. We usually get the awaze tibs with either lentils, cabbage or green beans but I have had a friend who tried the doro wat and he said it was delicious. We’ve also tried the somosa and they are wonderful. I really enjoy how the awaze tibs are not drowning in oily sauce (like some of the other Ethiopian restaurants nearby) yet they are wonderful seasoned with just the right amount of ghee/sauce. I believe the price has gone up just slightly within the past year (like literally only 1-3$ difference). Not a big deal for us at all as quality stays consistent. My partner frequently chats with the cook lady and tips her well in cash. He says the ladies and men there are always kind and never rude.

Definitely worth trying!
Not only exceptional food but the service and cleanliness is outstanding. I ordered spicy beef tibs with Sambusa. The beef was super tender and saucy. I highly recommend you trying this authentic Ethiopian cuisine.

Wonderful store with the most delightful lady who works the grill-she made the most delicious food with the perfect spice level. I usually have to drive to DC for good Ethiopian food, but not anymore-Merkato is now my go-to place! Delicious!

This place is a store/cafe. Limited menu, but my small group had the chicken, beef, and veggie sampler (5, 10, 22). They were out of lamb when we went, which would have been my first choice. The staff advised our group to get a spicy dish (10). We did and while it had a little simmering heat, it wasn’t overpowering at all. The food took about 25 minutes to prepare, so call ahead if you can. My group enjoyed everything and had leftovers!

We had the pleasure of ordering from this establishment for a Black History Month event, where we sought to honor Ethiopian culture. Their lentil sambusas were delicious—everyone at the event raved about them!
When I arrived to pick up my large order, the staff could not have been more welcoming and generous. They went above and beyond to make my experience exceptional, even helping me carry my order to the car and surprising me with a roadside snack.
My team and I were thoroughly pleased with the service and food quality. We will order from here again and wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic and flavorful Ethiopian cuisine.
