Came here for dinner for 2. Good food, excellent service and chill vibes! Staff was very friendly and gave us good food recommendations! Ordered crab rillette, duck confit, cheese platter and tarte flambee. Also had cocktails during happy hour! Loved the crab rillette and the cheese platter! La vie en Marcel cocktail was good too! A very relaxing evening dinner(:

Had a lovely time at Merci Marcel today. It’s a bit out of the way for our lunch, but it’s nice in this neighbourhood. For those who frequent this area knows Merci Marcel is definitely one of the gems and the reason to go to Tiong Bahru.

We came in and were delighted with the lunch specials, ordered a range of a few dishes. You can see the photographs, and we were adequately pleased with the cuisine.

I think what really makes the space special is the service, as our waitperson named Julie was very friendly and attentive, giving us enough time. We had a good vibe all around, which made our visit even more special.

I recommend the barramundi risotto and the crème brûlée.

And by the way, refillable sparkling water is for the win. Thank you.

6-star experience (if I could!)
Merci Marcel (Tiong Bahru) absolutely nailed it today — impeccable service, outstanding food, and a café vibe that makes you want to linger.

Huge shoutout to our servers Julie and Shuang. Julie’s food recommendation was completely on point — kind, humorous, and genuinely taking hospitality to another level. Shuang greeted us so warmly, and even though we didn’t have an advance reservation, she kindly accommodated us with a lovely table. Both were attentive throughout, and I also noticed the same consistent courtesy across other tables — a really nice touch that speaks to the team culture.

Food-wise: amazing. I had the lunch special (risotto with barramundi) — fresh, tasty, and honestly so good I almost ordered a second portion. My daughter ordered the ceviche sea bass, which was excellent and beautifully fresh as well. Compliments to the chef.

Add to that the wonderful café atmosphere — great temperature, music, and décor — and it all adds up to a truly memorable meal. We’ll be back.

Merci Beaucoup Marcel

Food was excellent, service staff were very attentive and smiley (also checked in with us to ask if food was alright!). Just chill vibes! We had ravioli – usually we don’t like ravioli, but we saw the table next to us ordering it and it looked good, and we weren’t disappointed! It was bite-sized – so easy to eat. Creme brûlée – the top camramelised layer was sweet yet it had a tangy touch to it, and coupled with the custard, it was generally rather well-balanced.

Very appreciative of the great service here as well! Shout out to Herman, Julie and Shuang who made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. Really made for a very happy dining experience. Thank you!!! 🙂

The ambience was very nice and quiet there, certainly giving off a French vibe. I tried their Seabass Cerviche and Duck Parmentier, which were excellent; the seabass was firm and tender while the duck parmentier was rich in fat and taste. They also offer happy hour drinks too. Overall, a nice quiet food spot if you want to try out some French cuisine!

Popular French cafe at Tiong Bahru enclave. Fusion and provencal French brasserie food. The blue cheese is very good, paired with an excellent onion jam. #1 and #3 thin crust pizzas: we preferred #3 which is tasted like a truffle pizza.

The food was decent overall, and the ravioles de Royans was decent and very cheesy if you like cheese get it. However, the portion size was a bit disappointing since the plate looked large but was actually very shallow, and it didn’t feel like enough. We also tried the passionfruit crème brûlée, which was very tart and sour with a sugary finish, so be prepared for that level of sourness if you choose it. The carrot cake was decent, and the mascarpone was light and fluffy.

I didn’t take photos of the Croque Marcel, but it was a good portion and tasted great. I would recommend ordering that one. the pizza was also thin crust and tasted pretty decent as well.

Had a lovely time at Merci Marcel Tiong Bahru! The atmosphere is so charming, with cozy indoor seating and a delightful patio area. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. The team was super helpful in recommending great dishes and made sure we were comfortable throughout. I was especially impressed that they honored my reservation time – a big plus! Overall, a wonderful dining experience that I’d definitely repeat.

Service and atmosphere is great. It’s a bit more expensive even for New Zealand standards. But, we loved it. Definitely worth a try if in Tiong Baru neighborhood.
