So, if you haven’t been to Merci Cafe you are missing out on quite the experience! Merci Cafe graciously let us reserve two high-top tables for Saturday, August 2, 2025, for 10:00 am brunch due to a loved one in our party who has mobility issues. When we arrived everything was ready for us. We had a reservation for 8 people, we ended up with 9. The ambiance is wonderful, the food is amazing and fresh! Merci Cafe is truly a sublime family affair which consists of Duc, his wife Noelle and their children. Everyone in our party unanimously agreed that we must come back for dinner!

Food is very underwhelming. Eggs over cooked in Eggs Benedict. Hash browns have the texture of something out of a box, definitely not fresh, that or they’re old. Quiche tastes like egg whites used in place of whole eggs and lacking texture in crust. Beignets have the texture of stale donuts.

This restaurant has excellent food. My wife and I ate here twice in two days. The Crab Eggs Benedict had wild crab and it was delicious. We shared an omelette and salmon croissant that was amazing also. The Belgian hot chocolate was the best I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Some positives! The iced coffee and seasoned fries were fantastic!!! The staff were very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was nice as well. Unfortunately, the food was not great. We ordered two of the open faced smoked salmon sandwiches, one turkey club, the crab cake burger, and the beignets. The bread on each item was awful (bland taste, poor texture). The avocado on the smoked salmon and turkey club was not freshly sliced; it appeared to be from a packet. The crab cake burger was also awful. We didn’t finish any of our meals. The beignets were stale doughnuts. It’s a shame; the cafe was spectacular three years ago.

Love this place! Everything about from the story about how the married couple owners met in previous careers to the atmosphere to the food. The food is particularly great. Eggs Benedict, the quiche and the crepes. Everything! The owner Noel is an absolute sweetheart. If this place was near our home in Chicago, we would visit at least once per week. Highly recommend you try this restaurant. You won’t be sorry!

The owner met me at the counter. She was warm and kind. The pastries are sent in from France. That’s just so cool! I got the almond croissant. It tasted buttery, flaky, and delicious. I got their in-house cappuccino. Yummmmy!! And their quiche “truffle & mushroom.” It was incredible. I’m really happy that I stopped in to try this little hidden gem.

Fairly tasty, quick casual cafe. Should be four stars, but for the premium price point, taking a bit more critical perspective.

Came in search of a beignet (sad after Southern Rail closed), but missed. The beignets are definitely not the New Orleans style. These were nominally french bakery style, but honestly they were more like jelly-filled donut holes (honestly disappointing as a donut… kinda soggy and definitely not delicate or subtle).

Food in general came out very quickly. Maybe too quickly. We had a ham/cheese crepe, a Nutella crepe, a breakfast sandwich, and belgian waffle. Most of it was solid/tasty. Likes the simple salad and flavors were good. The breakfast sandwich on croissant was yummy. The bits of bone in the ham (in the crepe) weren’t awesome, and the cheese in the crepe had the was-melted-now-cooled texture . The belgian waffle was a little sad looking, but was solid.

Service was mostly pleasant, friendly. one notable exception of one staff member who seemed a bit frenetic and felt it would be appropriate to interrupt us taking an order to bark at the cashier, “that’s the last hot chocolate”. Then, a couple minutes later, yelling (at least speaking loudly enough to be heard over the din across the dining room): “I can’t make you a mocha because we don’t have any chocolate!”. Maybe. I’m just old, but in my experience, there graceful ways to sort that out – out of eye/earshot of your customers.

Overall, it was good and a convenient stop if in the area and craving this type of food. If the price point was about 15-20% lower, it’d probably be a repeat – but for the price, there are better options for similar or higher quality food.

What a delicious way to start our day, with a taste of France on this side of the ocean. The almond croissant and the espresso tasted like some we’ve had in France. The owner stopped by our table to speak with us after learning of our interest in all things French. Even the restroom was decorated like those in France. Fabulous place!

One of the best croissants I have ever had! The staff is super friendly and the service was great. They were very busy on a Saturday morning so I recommend calling in advance for a reservation if you want a table. Or just stop by to grab something to-go and walk around the area! I recommend and would def come back if I’m in the area again.
