We had an absolutely phenomenal meal at Mercado. The menu blends Portuguese flavors with some fun fusion dishes, and everything we tried was fantastic. It honestly made us miss our trip to Portugal so much.
The tofu bánh mì was amazing and packed with flavor. Even though there are some creative dishes on the menu, they stay true to Portuguese staples where it counts. Everyone has to get the pastel de nata — they’re absolutely delicious and a must-order.
We stopped in for lunch on a random Monday and it was surprisingly packed, so that’s definitely something to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit. Clearly a lot of people know how good this place is!

I love a good cafe with natural lighting! Mercado blends cafe and lunch spot together with their extensive menu (will be trying a grain bowl next go round).
I happened to go there when their wifi was turned off (11am – 2pm), but once it was put back on, the connection was great and speedy.
I like how you order your food and they deliver it to you (facilitates crowding and allows people to continue their work/convos at the table).
First, I had an apple cake and matcha with oat milk and agave. Both were amazing! The matcha was lovely and the cake was moist and the perfect amount of sweet. Later on, I had a side of fries and water with a salted caramel coffee to go. Everything came out delicious and will definitely be going again!
Highly recommend this place to anyone!

It was fine. Tried a few times – Pancakes and French toast are some of the best I’ve had. Food is ok, you seat yourself, order yourself (pay at the same time) and wait at your table for food. Staff passes by once or twice after they bring your food to see if you need anything. Very clean, even the bathrooms. I’d go back to try a few other things and will adjust this review if necessary.

Great breakfast and brunch spot. Really fresh ingredients, clean and vibrant/bright atmosphere. Our party ordered different items and none of us were disappointed. Avocado Toast, Salsa Wrap, Farmer’s Garden Omelet, and Chicken Fry Sandwich. They have a smoothie/juice bar that offers some unique blends. I tried the early riser, and was very satisfied with it – had a spicy kick to it with the ginger.

We just moved to the area so we had to try this place out. It didn’t disappoint. We like the vibes of the restaurant. Nice and clean. Food is great. And coffee is on point. 10/10 would recommend!

I love love love this place. I’m been enough times to get the vibe of it. It is more than your average cafe in terms of food options. They do not have service so you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Although it isn’t exact science, I feel very strongly that they do not make your drink well if you don’t tip. I’m happy to do so, but if I’m getting my drink to-go I’m not going to tip. Not shockingly (like most cafes) my drinks to-go are significantly worse than if I would sit. I really love all their food options and they have friendly staff. They even have a chai they make themselves which I love so much. Their coffee is amazing and they spin the milk well. They are very busy most of time, so it isn’t a place that you can sit for a long time if you’ve finished your drink without feeling awkward while you watch people waiting for a seat. If I had to choose a coffee shop to sit and enjoy in the area – this is definitely the spot.

Oh my gosh. Amazing food and cookies!!! I got oreo cookie and it was great! All food and cookies were very fresh. Its busy and crowded with tables close together so we did carry out. Will return. Excellent service. Loved it.

Impressed!! The inside of this cafe is clean, aesthetic, and perfect for any visitor. They offer fresh delicious quality food and coffee at a reasonable price. I ordered the maple coffee, it has the perfect balance of sweetnesses and coffee. The chicken noodle soup tasted rich and delicious served with crackers and bread! The chicken fry was huge. It was $12 and did not come with any sides but you don’t need it! It comes with a huge piece of breaded chicken on a Portuguese style roll with amazing sauces. Super filling but not heavy at all!! The BLTA was fresh, light, flavorful, and delightful, I recommend!! You just walk up to the counter, order your food, grab your number, and sit while you wait shortly. This is a great option in Upper Montclair, one of favorite visits! They have an extensive menu and its options to please everyone at a great price!
