We came here for brunch during restaurant week. The hostess was super warm and inviting. Our waitress was Janessa and she was awesome! She was super friendly, attentive and gave great recommendations.
I got a watermelon margarita which was good, although I didn’t really taste much watermelon flavor. If you like strong drinks, you’ll enjoy this one. I usually like lighter/fruitier drinks.
For my first course, I got the short rib quesabirria tacos and they were super delicious and flavorful. 10/10 no notes. My partner got the flautas and he really enjoyed them.
The second course is where things went a little left for us. I ordered the French toast and it ended up being a super thick slice of French toast. The outside edges were cooked, but a lot of the middle was undercooked, resulting in wet/soggy/unpleasant bread. I think they should make the French toast half as thick, so it can fully cook. I ended up only eating about 60% of it, because the rest was not great. I did enjoy the cafe de olla drizzle.
My partner got the steak and eggs for his second course. He ordered the steak medium, but it was closer to rare. Also, there were a lot of fatty/tough pieces that he had to spit out. He didn’t really enjoy the steak. He said the eggs were decent and the hash browns were good.
We would absolutely go back. I would probably stick with the short rib quesabirria and maybe explore some of the other menu options. I’m glad I got the opportunity to try this place during restaurant week, because I probably would have never come across them otherwise.

Took my husband here for his 31st birthday. They were very fast and friendly! Our server Sabrina was very accommodating and sweet. She helped make the birthday special! We loved the food, service, and atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back again!

We had an absolute wonderful meal celebrating my son’s birthday. Everything was fresh, full of flavor and cooked to perfection! The most authentic Mexican restaurant we have ever been to. Our server Luis was impressive! He explained every dish, recommended what he thought was their best meals. He quick, on point and genuinely friendly. He brought out the most perfect dessert for my son’s birthday after we finished dinner.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone who is in Chicago for dinner. We will definitely be back! And ask for Luis, he’s the best!

We had a fantastic brunch experience here during Restaurant Week — the deal was an incredible value for the amount of food you get. Everything we tried was delicious and came out quickly! Service was efficient and friendly, and a special shout-out to our server Samantha, who was amazing. She handled our party’s dietary restrictions with total confidence and care, making the whole experience feel easy and stress-free. We are from out of town and came to Mercadito twice during our visit (once for dinner and once for brunch) and we were thoroughly impressed both times! Love Mercadito!!! We had the BEST time here while watching the Bears game. Unfortunately they lost, but our bartender Amy was AMAZING!!! She makes a mango margarita that is sooooo good. I love this place me, and now my husband talks about it all the time too. We will be back!!

Everything about Mercadito is amazing! It’s clean, the atmosphere was BEAUTIFUL, the waitress was a complete sweetheart and she answered every question I had. She was knowledgeable about the menu as well. The food I ordered was DELICIOUS and I will be going back. It was a great place to celebrate my birthday. Thank you for my surprise birthday dessert. That was exquisite too !

My friends and I were visiting from out of town and decided to make a reservation here. The two of them visited years ago when they were last in Chicago and spoke very highly of this place, so we figured it would be a great opportunity to catch up at this restaurant.
