If you’re craving fresh, flavorful, California-cool sandwiches in a relaxed, beach-town vibe—Mendocino Farms in Encinitas is your spot! I swung by today and here’s why I’m already planning my next visit:

What I Loved

Flavor-forward sandwiches! I tried the Asian Chicken Salad. Every bite popped with freshness.

Vibe = chill beachtown meets urban green. Bright, clean interior with stylish wood accents, loads of plants, and that slow-California rhythm that just relaxes you.

Friendly staff who get it — Especially impressive, since I’m always asking about gluten-free or low-sugar swaps. They were happy to recommend—and actually remembered my “no sauce, extra avocado” next time.

Quick and consistent service. Even at the lunch rush, food came out hot in under 10 minutes, and they nailed my custom order with zero mixups.

Great outdoor seating. Sun-washed patio had perfect shade-blocking umbrellas and that easygoing Encinitas energy (also dog-friendly for your pup’s occasional snack moment!).

Super delicious sandwiches! My wife and I stopped in for a bite last weekend since we had never been to a Mendocino Farms and boy are we glad we did. The atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly. I had the November to remember and it was seriously so tasty I have been thinking about it ever since. Keep up the great work and be sure to keep the employees happy because they made the experience so much better than other places we’ve eaten at lately.

Great sandwiches and salads! Came in wanting a sandwich I had a couple weeks ago but they didn’t have it – learned that they alternate the sandwhiches pretty frequently. It worked out though because I tried the Spicy Calabrian Turkey Foccacia sandwich and it was great too! Our server Bradley was great, super personable and helpful.

First time at this location and got the avocado quinoa salad. I asked for no super food crunchies. Got my food and it still had the crunchies on it so I asked them to remake it. When I asked the manager to remake the food he walked away very visibly annoyed. After he brought back our food he returned to the back and we could hear him complaining about customers to the other employees. Food was good but probably will not return due to rude staff.

Stingy portions of meat, this is the most important part of the meal, yall should make sure customers are getting enough protein, we aren’t paying $20 for lettuce. The Goat salad was good but with about 1 or 2 oz of chicken, not satiated, maybe a 5 year old would be? But this isn’t a kids meal. If this is your way of cutting costs you will also cut customers. Thanks for the 3 flakes of chicken meat on the GOAT salad.

Picked up lunch here and the food was just okay. My salad and sandwiches were adequate, but the potato salad side I ordered was horrible. The whole thing was runny and the potatoes were completely undercooked. The potatoes were literally all crunchy! Unacceptable. The pesto pasta side was mediocre. Tasted mostly like feta cheese instead of basil pesto. And the oatmeal raisin cookie was not good and tasted flour-y. Overall not impressed with the food.

I ate here because I forgot my lunch. The sandwich is good but not worth almost 15 dollars. In my Jersey, Mike’s tops this sandwich. I had the mendos pork belly. It ws good, just I wouldn’t pay almost 15 dollars for it again. In fact, I should have just gone to Vons and gotten a sandwich. I’d recommend you try there sandwiches for sure to see if it your taste but this would be like a try it one time thing and if you like you would onky eat it like once every month especially for the price.

Really good fresh sandwiches and salads. This place isn’t exactly fast but mostly I’ve been here when it was a little busy. Not today and it took a little over 10 mins for just one sandwich. But the food is definitely pretty good.

The not so fried chicken sandwich is pretty yummy. Worth trying but it is certainly overpriced. My biggest gripe and the reason for three stars is the lack of consistency. If you order to go your sandwich will be smaller. Below is the exact same order on different days. On in person and one to go.

They’ve gotten my online order wrong on two separate occasions. Last time was simply the wrong bread on my sandwich. This time they omitted the avocado and bacon on my Farm Club “salad style.” Pricey, especially when items are omitted.
