It’s now changed owners and the name is now PETE AND HANKS COUNTRY CAFE in Red Lake Falls, MN. Conveniently located inside the Cenex Gas Station coming into town on 32 off of hwy 2. Short 10 minute drive. I had their breakfast along with a Carmel roll which is AMAZING. I told my husband about this hidden gem and we went for a Sunday lunch meal and the special was bacon crusted meatballs, mash potatoes and gravy, peas, roll and a dish of ice cream. Fresh and homemade. My husband was in HEAVEN. He had the man size while i opted for the small kids version. Prices were reasonable, staff super friendly, family owned. I can’t wait to go back to try more menu items. Hours are 6 to 2 everyday.

There is just something about a small town cafe. Every time I’ve been to Memories the service has been great and the food is even better. If you’re one of the few people who’s had a not so great experience here, please remember that they’re a small staff and anyone can have a bad day here or there.

Good food for the town this size. I’ve had alot worse in towns larger. But the waitress is very friendly and does her job very well. So people. Tip your servers at least 20 % if they serve you well. Tip them a little more. These are hard time do to bidenomics.

Waited over an hour for our food, wasn’t really busy just a lot of elderly drinking coffee and chatting with their friends.
Three larger tables got their food before us that ordered after we did.
Numerous tables had plates left on them dirty the whole time we were there which was almost 2 hours by the time we received our food.
Oddly seemed to be 3-4 workers in the kitchen but only one person actively cooking. One waitress that was okay but could probably use support by the dishwasher for removing dishes from tables.

Stopped in on our bikes touring around one afternoon. Waitress told as we sat down the recommended item was the turkey melt sandwich, as if suggesting that’s what we should order. She did give us menus though and my wife was able to order something off there. I went with the recommendation as I didn’t see a clubhouse on the menu. We both had fries and when my wife asked for a fork the waitress said “well aren’t you special” and she grabbed the napkins that were on the table already. “you can’t have these then” and stormed off. She brought us forks though but when she put them on the table she said, “What kind of riders are you guys anyways” What has that to do with anything? Food was nothing special either. Won’t go back.

Had the shrimp baskets with onion rings and fries. They were good. I especially liked that the shrimp were not fried overdone but still moist. Service wad just as good as the food. DO wish they served unsweetened tea but still a great little side stop.

The waitress named Mary that I had was not happy at all. She told us about the lunch special, it was 11 am. She got mad when I said I wanted to order breakfast. Didn’t even give us a menu when it was our first time there ever. She was mad about having to get a menu. So we ordered breakfast then she complained loudly to the cook how our table ordered 2 omelettes and 2 caramel rolls. Watched her serve others and she was crabby about that too. Wow she had to work while she was at work a little. This is why we only left her a ten cent tip haha!!! She did NOT deserve it!!!!!! She needs to smile and not talk all crabby like.

The chicken strips we ordered were very stale and tough to eat. But I don’t think they are made fresh daily, they sure didn’t taste like they were.
And may I suggest that the establishment please consider training everyone in the proper way to safely handle food.
The girl who got our food was busy putting her hair up in a ponytail before she began to handle the food. She should have washed her hands and then put on the gloves. And since she had so much hair perhaps she should have had a hairnet or a hat. She did wear gloves, but I was astounded that she was blatantly playing with her hair in front of us near the food and then did wash your hands after playing with her hair. Please take this into consideration because you could get someone very sick.

It’s nothing fancy, just tables in a gas station. Food was ok, nothing special, nothing fresh, waitresses were nice, food was slow and over priced-but there is no place else to eat breakfast on a Saturday morning.
