Came here today to get some chicken. A bit crunchy but nonetheless it was good.
This place has some cool pics on the wall and gives off cool NM vibes. Located right on 550 on the southbound lane it’s pretty cool cause I was able to get my semi truck in there and turn around with no issues.
This place also has an EV charging station. This place serves chicken & BBQ, & burgers.
The guys who worked there were cool and they said the best time to come is now cause the food is fresh. It’s 11:20am as I’m writing this on a Tuesday morning.
Stip by and check them out. Food was good, but a little crunchy. I got what I needed!!! Onto Texas.

I ordered the 8pc family meal. Super fresh, super delicious, fries are great, chicken fried perfectly, potato salad is the bomb! I will return. You have to try this awesome delicious food place. Fast service, cheap, a lot of food for your money. They make dessert. Delicious too.!!!!

Great place to stop on the road if you’re hungry. Their prices are very cheap, and their food is really good as well. They have a ton of sauces you can get. Don’t skip the fries either.

Stopped here for lunch on a road trip. Not a whole lot of seating, but so worth it. Very friendly staff working hard in the heat. Big menu, great prices. I got a 2-piece white meal and my BFF got a 3-piece dark meat meal. The chicken, both light and dark meat, is delightfully juicy large pieces, and the skin/breading is a light coat with a tiny tang of cayenne and so crunchy! I loved the smooth mashed potatoes and homestyle gravy and my BFF really liked the coleslaw. Would totally stop here again. The only star off on atmosphere was for having a non-working toilet right at that moment and the TV above our seat really clashed with the music sound-wise. Still totally worth it. I knew it was good when the firefighters stopped there. 😉

Stopped here for the 1st time driving through Cuba. Love the fact they have a drive thru. They have a pretty good selection of foods. I decided to try the half rack of spicy BBQ Ribs. These were very good & moist but not spicy at all. The taste more than made up for that though. We also ordered the pulled pork sandwich. This was a pretty hefty sandwich the meat was tender and BBQ sauce was good but meat was a bit dry. We also tried the Mac & Cheese, it was semi creamy but didn’t have flavor, needed more cheese or salt, I would not order this again. I would stop here if I drive through and try something else because the food was good and I really liked the BBQ sauce. I’ll edit as I try more of their foods. It is worth stopping by.

Great fries and chicken, stoped driving back to New Mexico from Durango. Lots of sauces to choose from and the prices were amazing. Less than 10 for a 3 piece and a side, great amount of food for the money

Drove through Cuba headed to a friend’s house in Kline CO. Mel’s was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean. I didn’t wait long for my food. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I would eat hear again if I rode through Cuba again!

This is one of those unassuming little roadside stops that ends up having delicious food. The first time I visited was purely by chance during a road trip back from Oregon. Now, my teenage boys and I have made it a new student driver’s rite of passage to make the hour and 15 min drive out to Cuba for lunch at Mel’s. Very reasonably priced, the staff have always been welcoming and friendly, and the food puts all the fast food chicken to shame.

This is some of the best fried chicken I have ever tasted and I lived in Georgia for several years. Chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy and full of flavor on the inside. This small town is lucky to have a food place like this. Well run business, minimal wait. Was able to pack out a chicken wrap when leaving town during my CDT thru hike. If I am ever in the area again, I will be sure to stop by.
