A good place to grab a bite while visiting Universal Studios Park. The interior is 1960s‑style. Note that drinks are not refillable, even though you pour them yourself from the machine. If there’s an outdoor show, the person sitting by the window can watch it, but only from the back.

Mel’s chilli fries are the best! If you like fries cover with a great amount of cheese and such a amazing chilli this is definitely something you should try on your next trip to Universal studios. Don’t leave until you get to try their shakes too best ones in the whole park for sure!!

the patty was burned to a crisp. all i taste is the lack of ketchup and the bitterness of the „meat“. the fries are fine and i like the diner theme a lot! but why would there be no refills? that‘s exactly what i came to america for.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and shared the Mel’s classic burger with fries & a drink & a very on-theme, delicious chocolate shake. I think the total was $26, not bad at all. Love the diner vibes, cute ambiance, staff were cranking out the orders quickly and the food was good for a quick bite. They were busy and still plenty of available seating inside & out. As we were leaving there was a show of performers dancing outside near the classic car collection. Would recommend for an easy lunch for any size group!

Okay, I’m not sure why this restaurant has so many negative reviews but as a UOAP holder this is actually my personal favorite restaurant within both parks. I have come here so many times and it’s always a great experience. I love the scenery from the moment you even walk up to the restaurant from outside. It gives that retro vibe from the 50s to the colors and signs and let’s not forget to mention the gorgeous cars sitting outside from the film American Graffiti which Mel’s is based from. Then as you make your way inside, you feel almost as if you have walked back in time with the Delorean as the scenery continues from checker-style floors, vinyl seating and even juke boxes !  Then the service here I’ve never had an issue. There’s actually some memorable moments I’ve had here such as dancing with one of the staff in the middle of the isle of the seating and even having fun interactions during Horror Nights when it was further themed. Then lastly and most importantly is the food. I’ve tried several items from their menu and for being a theme park, the prices and quality is fair. I’ve eaten the chicken sandwich, tenders, even loaded fries and shakes from here, but my personal favorite is the “Mel’s Famous Burger”. My only complaint about Mel’s is they or Universal didn’t sponsor me for this review because I do love Mel’s Dine in.

AVOID very busy and disorganised. Burgers, when eventually Served? up were COLD. Salad was dry, tasteless and inedible. Plus, I asked for grilled chicken. The ‘salad’ came with crispy, dried out, stale meat…. VERY VERY POOR INDEED.

I wouldn’t serve this food to my dog. Ate a burger during HHN and it was cold and like a hockey puck. Went for lunch now in February for something quick. Figured it’s hard to screw up chicken tenders. I went to pull the tender apart to cool it off and it wouldn’t break in half. It felt and looked like rubber. The breading slid right off and the chicken just would not go in half. Got a coffee full of grinds too.

The service here was quick and friendly, definitely the highlight of our meal. Most of the food was fine, but the burger, which is the signature item, was awful. It was incredibly overcooked and charred. Easily the worst burger I’ve seen in any theme park restaurant. Everything else was fine though. I would definitely recommend mobile ordering since the line to order is usually long and I would definitely advise against getting the burger. If you’re looking for a burger close by, check out Richter’s Burger Company right around the corner.

Good food, kind service, and the atmosphere is so cool. Decent prices for a theme park. Will definitely be eating here next time I’m at Universal.
(in the photo I already ate some fries so don’t think that it’s a small portion size)

I didn’t go in to eat having just arrived. It would have been a good time for lunch or late breakfast as it wasn’t busy early in the morning. I liked the old style cars in the parking lot. I would avoid it once the park gets busy in this area.
