Mel’s is a small diner with 6 tables, nestled in downtown Morocco, which had a downtown 1 block long. We Love small towns ! Our friendly waitress took our order, mine a burger and fries from the Senior menu. It was Delish ! My wife also had lunch and ordered strawberry rhubarb pie to go. It was pretty good, not the best, not the worst. A nice stopping place

Recently remodeled, but they had some problems afterwards with water and men’s room. Our server was very helpful and took care of replacing or refunding the drinks made with the water. The onion straws and Mel’s special beef was excellent except for the cheese.

Found this small town diner driving through Morocco. Perfect place to stop for a bite.
Edit: second visit to this restaurant was also good. We had the pork burger and BLT along with stuffed pepper soup for the side. Only downside was miracle whip on the BLT. Real mayo would make it much better, but that’s my personal preference.

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast with our toddlers When we entered, we were told we could sit anywhere. A menu was brought to a shortly after sitting down. Our drink order was taken as our menu was brought to us. I do believe there is a switch from breakfast to lunch around 11:00 a.m. The server was also manning the phone when we were there. The staff all seemed friendly and we’re definitely tolerable of our toddlers, who decided to run in circles and dance after eating. I feel like this restaurant gives a homey vibe. The food was more than reasonably priced. Honestly, it was the lowest priced food that I’ve seen in a while. Overall, we enjoyed our food and our time at the restaurant. I think we’ll be back to try lunch, and dinner at a later time.

Our 1st time going to Mel’s Downtown!!
It’s very cozy inside. It’s truly a mom and pop style restaurant. It’s a true gem to the town of Morocco. The young lady waiting tables was doing it all on customer side of kitchen. She was running pick up counter, clearing tables, answering the phone, waiting tables and clearing off tables. The girls in back were running around filling orders. Menu has a good variety of items. I think the prices are great, compared to restaurants in Rensselaer.
Regular customers would walk in and the waitress did even ask them what they wanted to drink, she already knew by memory. To me that speaks volumes for a fantastic diner. Our food was delicious, mushroom burger and the Italian beef. Placed on table piping hot. We will definitely go back!

The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. The French fries are 3.99 and are not good at all, waste of money. Somehow the acoustics are such that it is Extremely loud and hard to hear yourselves talk. But the Italian Beef and Patty Melt we had were wonderful.
