Great local diner in Mountain Home Arkansas. Good prices on a wide selection of menu items. I ordered a breakfast burrito that hit the table hot and loaded with egg, sausage, onion, bell pepper and has brown. Fast friendly service topped off a visit here. I will update this review with photos on my next visit there.

This place is very family friendly, with room for large groups and families. The food is great. Whether you order breakfast or lunch they are both great. Food is always hot and fresh, waitstaff are friendly and quick to serve you. Prices are very reasonable, kids meals start at $2.25 and include a drink. The coffee is the best around. Most of the adult meals are less than $10.

We hit Mel’s Diner about an hour after they opened. It was quiet and had a comfortable atmosphere. It was a little chilly, i was glad I wore a jacket. I got the strawberry pancakes special. It came with two sausage links but I got bacon instead. My husband got sausage and eggs and a side of home fries. My husband’s only complaint was he wished there was more substance instead of filler. I know we will be back again. I will definitely recommend Mel’s to anyone.

I’m very disappointed this visit. Only thing good about this visit was my waitress. The Scatter used to be huge but, this time was on a smaller plate and barely covered the middle of it! Ordered my eggs over-hard and got a… not sure what… instead and I did not get many Hash browns either! Bummed! – I would have sent the meal back but, I did not believe that it would have been any better.
On a side note… service was good as usual – the servers were very attentive – I have never had any issues with their food except today (I only eat Breakfast here so I do not know about other meals). The Cook today had no idea what he was doing! How do you screw up an “over-anything” egg?

When in Mountain Home, be sure to stop at Mel’s Diner for breakfast. Casual Diner atmosphere; excellent service; classic Diner menu with some twists. Your food will come out quickly, your coffee will never get cold! The biscuits and gravy are perfect!
We have eaten here three separate times and the service has been excellent every time. Have not experienced the service issues appearing in some reviews. Spoke with a waitress who informed that, when the restaurant is busy, they post wait times on the board right inside the door.

Had southwest omelet. It was hot, fresh & fast but steak had no seasoning & no flavor inside the omelet. Waitress was great. She kept our glasses filled & had a nice personality. Bathroom NEEDED HOT SOAPY BLEACH WATER scrub from ceiling to floor.

The food is good and the prices are good. The problem is the waitresses send way to much time in the kitchen talking instead of serving customers.
