A small town diner with American food and slightly overpriced in my opinion. The food had really good portion sizes and taste, I ordered the Double Bacon Deluxe cheeseburger with sweet potato fries for $12. The ceilings are only 6′ 5″ tall, so tall people may prefer to eat at the outside tables

Awesome food. Almost didn’t have enough room for our large party but we squeezed in and didn’t regret it. Stopped by on our way to Glacier and the burgers, fries, and fish were delicious! Staff was very friendly!

Always busy. Popular diner. Greeted immediately by server, Rosie, and cook/owner, Gail. Breakfast was hot and tasty, as usual. Tiny, but sufficient interior. One family-style table, which is always occupied. Great small-town atmosphere. Friendly, efficient service, delicious food! We’ll be back.

We only had ice cream at Mel’s The kids loved the Montana Moss (chocolate chip mint) and birthday cake flavors. The place was packed with other folks having lunch and it smelled delicious. Next time in Augusta, we’ll make sure we test out the lunch menu.

Great little restaurant with friendly staff. Had today’s special (BLT with a cup of excellent vegetable beef soup). Save room for a homemade ice cream sandwich — giant choc chip cookies with your choice of ice cream flavor!!

We ate lunch here on our way out of the mountains after a weekend of camping. All I can say is if we’re ever even remotely close to Augusta in the future, we’ll make it a point to stop in and grab another meal. The burgers were cooked to perfection, fries were delicious, and we liked the friendly home-like atmosphere.

Do go here if your in a hurry, you’ll want to savor every bite. This place is completely full of charm and character. Very reasonably priced and an excellent cup of coffee. The Mel’s sandwich is almost more then you can eat

The absolute best burgers and fries in Montana. With a large traditional breakfast in the mornings and bottomless coffee refills Mel’s is the best place to start your hunting, fishing, and hiking adventures. They also have Wilcoxson’s ice cream ALL DAY!
