I understand that every restaurant in Boone is busy after an App State game. However, Mellow Mushroom takes busy to another level. You cannot call ahead. They tell you your table will be ready in 40-45 minutes…..so you wait like everyone else. After 45-50 minutes, you ask the hostess how much longer. She says we are running behind, so at least another 20 minutes. Your table is finally ready an hour and half later.
Do you think I would have stayed if they told me that an hour and a half ago?
Not sure about the type of training that happens at this place, but I do not recommend eating at this restaurant.
This is a small Mellow Mushroom compared to others I have visited. The atmosphere is loud, chaotic, and people waiting for a table are standing around those who are eating.
This is a college town, but also a high tourist area. You would think customer service would be top priority!

I dine at mellow mushrooms all the time. I actually make it a point to visit any mellow mushroom I pass on my journeys. There is one that always stands out to me; Boone, NC. The service is always an 11/10. I never have to ask for a refill and have become friends with some of the staff. If I have a music request, they fulfill it. If I want to watch Judge Judy on TV, they turn it on. Brianna, the bartender makes my Arnold Palmer with exactly the correct proportions. I even saw them giving toilet paper to a neighbor in need (Boone Saloon) after they had, needless to say, a busy night in the restroom. We’ve all been there! But not after mellow mushroom. With their glowing safety rating, I never worry about this. I have personally been in when the food inspector was there and he wasn’t surprised one bit with the immaculate condition of the kitchen as the staff and management are always on top of food safety. Speaking of safety, you may have noticed they removed the swing from the bar in their 2025 remodel, good move. Though if there’s a way I could purchase this from them, it would make a great addition for my mellow mushroom collectibles room. Mellow mushroom. I love you.

We show up and they tell us it’s going to be a 40 minute wait, I would say that’s normal for a Saturday but it’s happened on several other occasions where we’ve come. After an hour, wait we’re told it’s going to be another 20 minutes. After an hour and 20 minutes, we’re tall it’s going to be another 20 minutes before they can even seat us. After ordering our food, I’m told it’s gonna be about 35 minutes. WHERE does it take 2 hours to get pizza. It’s good but it’s not that good. The girl working the front desk(or not working the front desk from the photo) was rude that I would ask how much longer it’s going to be. This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened. It won’t happen again because I’m not eating here anymore. Dominoes isn’t as good but at least I can get in and get out before 3 hours

Just got back with my take out order and it’s pretty bad. My Pizza has no sauce (Pic below) and is burnt. Haven’t been to a mellow mushroom in quite some time and we spent $68 so this is pretty disappointing. Definitely don’t recommend.

Mellow is always a great place to eat. Our server was super helpful and extremely polite. I had the cheese steak with Follow Your Heart dairy free cheese and it was so dang good. The sandwich is absolutely loaded with shaved steak, pepper, onions, lettuce, and tomato. My husband had the smash burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles and american cheese. He loved it other than he asked for no onions and they brought it out w onions.

Great service! Our server was great tonight, attentive, ensuring we were satisfied with our food and our drinks were topped off.
The appetizers and pizza were great. We got the Bruschetta and Spinach and Artichoke Dip for appetizers. They had so much flavor.

It’s been a long time since we’ve been to the MM in Boone, in fact, since it was at its previous location even! The modernized MM is lovely with great decor and still the good food we remember. Definitely get the unique pies to this location, including the Maui Wowie! We also enjoyed the Mighty Meaty. The Chopped salad was a hit for those looking for less calories or sodium content. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Piper was a great server. The owner was super friendly. They dropped a single piece of our pizza. Instead of replacing one piece, they gave us the original pie plus whole extra pie on the house. Top notch establishment!

I didn’t have a good experience. I have been going to Mellow Mushroom for years. This time I brought a family member and as soon as they brought out our pizza they started asking if we wanted a box every 15 minutes. We eventually ordered more food and were informed we could order to go but they needed the table because they were expecting a “High Volume.” I ended up canceling my order and doubt I will be back. My family should never be treated like second class.

We had a very great and pleasant dinner at Mellow Mushroom. Our server was very polite and professional! The only reason I give 4 stars is prices. I think this restaurant is overpriced. Our pizza was good but the price something around $27 for one medium pizza that’s ridiculous and it wasn’t that special. It’s good but nothing more. Not impressed. But in general it was fun restaurant to have a dinner.
