We made an impromptu visit to Mellow Mushroom for a lunch/staff meeting, and what could have been a logistical challenge turned into a seamless, enjoyable experience — thanks entirely to Kimberly.
I arrived ahead of my team and spoke with Kimberly to see if any pre-seating arrangements could be made for our group of six. From the moment I explained our situation, Kimberly was attentive, professional, and genuinely helpful. She asked all the right questions about our needs and wasted no time getting us settled into a back seating area that gave us the privacy and space we needed to conduct our meeting comfortably.
Her warm, accommodating nature set the tone for our entire visit. It’s rare to encounter that level of thoughtfulness and initiative — especially on an unplanned stop — and it made a real difference for our team. Kimberly is a true asset to this location.
Great food, great atmosphere, and exceptional service. Thank you, Kimberly — you went above and beyond, and it did not go unnoticed!
The soft pretzels are a must-try — warm, soft, and served with a super tasty dipping sauce. And the veggie pizza was amazing, packed with a variety of fresh vegetables and that signature Mellow Mushroom crust that never disappoints.
The atmosphere was fun and chill, perfect for families or hanging out with friends. I’ll definitely be coming back again — everything was sooo good!
It’s been a few years since we’ve been to a Mellow Mushroom and this Friday night was our first Texas Mellow Mushroom.
We ordered draft beers, a small Greek salad and a small Holy Shitake Pizza plus Sausage
Our server, Cara was pleasant and helpful. She took our drink orders right away. The beers were cold and tasty.
I while later, we ordered our food.
– Small Greek Salad: it was just okay. Not special
– Holy Shitake Pizza plus Sausage: I really like it. My wife thought the bottom crust at the outer edge was a bit burnt on 2 of the 4 slices. It was darker for sure but I was good with it.
All in all, a good meal with good service. I’d eat here again.
While it was a bit pricy and the wait for my pizza did take a little bit: the food quality & decor made it all worth it. Friendly staff, gorgeous decor, and the music that played was all stuff I have on my own playlist.
10/10 will be back someday
The server was attentive and I appreciate the readiness to serve but he was loud, standing next to us but soaking like we were across the room. And when I asked for lemon for my drink… he brought it with his bare hands and tried to drop it in my drink…
We got to the restaurant at 1:57 PM on Father’s Day. There were at least 5 empty tables, and that was only of half the restaurant. While she did tell us to give her 3 minutes to seat us, it was at least that, if not more.
Okay, so I have worked restaurant in my life and if you’re in the weeds, you’re in the weeds, and a little patience is appreciated, so we were trying to extend grace.
She brought us our drinks in a pretty timely manner, but we didn’t get our first small pizza until 3:13. The other one got to the table at 3:20. These were 2 10-inch pizzas with 2 toppings each.
She did apologize one time, which we appreciate, and to be fair, she was hustling— hostess, bartender, waitress, and helping in the kitchen.
The thing is, the restaurant, at least from my experience with waiting tables, was not that busy. We’re not sure why it took over an hour for 2 small pizzas.
The restaurant was old and run-down, which I’d kind of expect for a college restaurant. But the overall experience was just not worth it.
At one point we were trying do calculate the bill so we could just leave cash on the table, but another waitress brought our $30 tab, so we handed her $40 and high-tailed out of there.
I’ve only been to this location one other time, but this will be the last.
Compassion for not expecting a crowd on Father’s Day, compassion for her,
knowing she was working hard, but extreme frustration at the over an hour to make 2 pizzas. We live an hour away, and could have driven home and picked up Stoner’s pizza on the way in the time we spent in Mellow Mushroom.
I wish we’d made another choice.
We started with Parmesan pretzels and for our main had a hamburger and Funky ‘Q Chicken. Everything was a good as we remembered and the staff was very friendly and did a great job.
Thanks!
