If you ask at Utican where you can great a good sub, most people will point you to “Mellos”. Truth is, most of those that don’t just haven’t been there in a decade or two (it’s a family owned business).
They have a limited menu: turkey, ham, roast beef, tuna with a small selection of toppings and only take cash. But when I say they have NO competition, its a FACT. The bread is FRESH daily (meaning they close early when they run out suggest getting in before 2) and are open only 11-4pm Mon-Fri. They have classic drinks (water, tea and a few sodas) and like 3 options of potato chips (classic & bbq) for an easy combo. But if you really want a taste to heaven, grab a chocolate chip cookie, they are perfection.
You know you are a true fan when the staff can make you & your families orders from memory. Stop by & say hi to Dave, you wont regret it.

the ideal sandwich shop. grew up in Utica but live a couple time zones away in a place where they wouldn’t know a good sandwich if it hit em in the face. to anyone living nearby that takes this place for granted – stop. I’d do just about anything to have one of these in my city.

Why haven’t I already reviewed you guys. Lol. The oldest sub place in town and always fresh bread. If you haven’t had mellos you’re not a true utica native. Dave is my go to guy and he always makes the best subs consistently. One a day I tell ya. Tell em I sent ya

The subs were very tasty and made really well with fresh ingredients. The bread felt and tasted as if it was baked that morning, and the meats and vegetables were prepared just right. I highly recommend eating here! Fyi this is a Cash only Establishment.

Some times simplicity is all you need. A no frills sub shop with possibly the best sandwich in the area. Not a lot of options and a dining area you can fill with a small group, but they need nothing more. Get a great sub and eat it on the go.

Super Nice was very talkative to me and made me feel comfortable there that I would wanna come again it is the best sub that I’ve ever had. I just made me want even more. I definitely will be coming here at least once a month to get a sub from this place if you want a great sub, go see them.

Decent location, decent parking in the back. They took my order quick and had it done in a few minutes. Very friendly staff. Ordered a small sub and was very surprised with how big it was. Great bang for your buck.
My only complaint is they have a limited selection of meats/choices. Other wise, the sub was delicious and I left satisfied. Will go again.
