I selected Mello Bistro based on its reviews and they were spot on! The quaint restaurant whose owners are the chef and manager, was just lovely. I chose them because of their location to the St. George theater as we had tickets to a show. There were 5 of us and we loved everything we ordered! The appetizers were great, especially the grilled octopus – one of the best we’ve ever had! The entrees were excellent and good size portions. The chicken parm was the size of the platter and the braised short ribs everyone had to try! They fell right off the bone! The desserts were divine! Especially loved the apple tart! We live over 1 hour away, but we would definitely go back and visit! I highly recommend!

Great cozy restaurant with a warm atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious — the fried calamari was very fresh, the grilled octopus was perfectly cooked and served at the right temperature, and the stuffed pork chops are a must-try — very tender and full of flavor. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place worth visiting!

My first visit to Mello Bistro. We had a nice get together for a bday for about 14 people. The atmosphere was pleasant, cozy and very welcoming. Everyone enjoyed their dishes from appetizers to main courses. A full bar with exotic drinks.
The family that owns the place is very pleasant and accommodating.
If you’re looking for a nice dinner and or a get together spot on the island this is a pleasant place to do it at.
They do have a party room in the back for 40 ppl as i’ve learned later on. So you can have a bigger get together as well.
Enjoy this find on staten island.

I recently hosted a party in the back room, and everything was absolutely amazing! The team was so organized and easy to communicate with leading up to the event. Setting up and decorating went incredibly smoothly, and the dinner itself was phenomenal. The chef and wait staff were extremely attentive and incredibly kind. Everything turned out even better than I could have imagined. i wish i had more pictures to share to show about nice the back room was. I will definitely be back and will be recommending this place to everyone!

Mello Bistro can be described as a hidden gem in Staten Island. We drove in from Brooklyn to try out a place with 5.0 stars (which seemed almost too good to be true) This place did not disappoint. I cannot say that every item was bursting with added flavors, but I can say that every single bite was fresh and delightful. I did not feel at all thirsty after the meal which means they did not put a crazy amount of flavor enhancers in their food. This is a family owned business that makes their customers feel at home. Shout out to Romulo for successfully serving all the tables at once, and making drinks in the midst of all of this!

I just discovered Mello Bistro on Staten Island — a cozy and charming little restaurant with seating designed mainly for 2 to 4 people. The food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. A perfect spot for a casual date or quiet meal with a friend..
If I had to deduct any points, it would be for the room temperature. It was quite warm during my visit (early June), and the A/C hadn’t been turned on yet. Hopefully that gets addressed soon, especially as the weather heats up. I definitely will come back again!

We celebrated our Valentine Day dinner at this restaurant. Everything was wonderful. Excellent food and service. Wonderful choices from grilled fish to homemade lasagna with everything in between. For dessert we ordered the tartufo, something we get at many restaurants, however, the quality of the chocolate coating and gelato was better than anywhere else. We’ll definitely be back!

Mello Bistro is truly a hidden gem in our quaint Staten Island. The family operated venue lends an intimate, cozy, familiar old school ambiance. You feel transported to authentic times of the past when restaurants were owned by families and you were treated as one. The restaurant no frills decor focuses in customer service and superb, quality food which is hard to come by today. One glance at their menu and you know by each dish description it will be delicious. Zuleyka with her husband Chef Romulo, their sons, Felipe, do not miss a beat welcoming customers, making suggestions, tending with care to each patron. The food is spectacular, from their warm bread, to appetizers, main courses, a culinary orchestra of harmony. Their espresso Martini one of the best we’ve had. We keep coming back for more and grateful to have stumbled into this authentic place, V&M.

Run don’t walk to this outstanding restaurant. It’s a gem tucked away at Rosebank Staten Island on Bay Street. Tonight I had the fried zucchini fries made with truffle oil and I don’t want to eat French fries ever again. For my main course I had the crusted tuna with arugula and sautéed fennel, it far exceeded my expectations. For my sweet ending I had the apple tart with a topping of vanilla ice cream. All I can say is WOW!!! Go, go, go!!! You will not be disappointed! This will be my regular stop.
