I tried out Melina’s Empanadas off Rt. 100 today. It’s an attractive place, family friendly, very welcoming and run by a very nice couple. Location is off Rt 100 across from WNZF Radio (not on the main drag, but in the building behind). I brought home three empanadas to try: Chicken, Beef and Cheese, and Strawberry Cheesecake, plus a side of sweet plantains. Prices are reasonable and everything is homemade. the empanadas are definitely the best I’ve had locally. They’re open Tuesday thru Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm. You can order online and they’re also on DoorDash. Give them a try!

First of, Melina is absolutely awesome. You can tell she really cares about the quality of her food and her customers! I ordered the plantains and alcapurrias and it was the best ones I’ve ever had. I ordered a few different ones and they were all amazing but my favorite was the shrimp. So fresh and so much flavor. The Chicken Alfredo was good but it could’ve been a little more creamy, other than that this is place is an absolute 10! So much meat inside too.

Happened to be in this area. Looked up vegan options and this location was an option showing a vegan empanada. This option was not on the menu on the wall.
Being my first time there tried asking person working about it and got a pickup bag stuck in my face while speaking. No one was inside waiting for anything.
Moved the bag out of my face and it was placed back in my face. I walked out.

Found our new empanada obsession! We stumbled upon Melina’s while scrolling our favorite delivery app and decided to give it a try. Best. Decision. Ever. The savory empanadas were out of this world—we devoured the Chicken Bacon Ranch, Alfredo, and Beef and Cheese, and each one was better than the last.
But the real show-stoppers were the dessert empanadas. Do NOT skip them! The Guava and Cheese is a perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and the Strawberry Cheesecake is as ridiculously good as it sounds. Melina’s just earned some lifelong fans. We’ll be back!

I happened to find them looking for a thrift store. Saw the “I love empanadas” sign & gave it a google. The reviews were excellent so I called my husband & daughter both were down. Went in to place the order, the inside was VERY CLEAN, with standard tables/chairs to the left and a walk up counter with a menu high & large enough to read behind it. Very kindly greeted, she asked if I had any questions & said to take my time looking over the menu (she was packing up to-go orders) & told me to ring the bell when I was ready ! I can’t tell you how much I appreciated being given ample time to look over the menu & decide what to get for the fam. If you’ve ever been a 1st timer & been rushed when ordering especially when ordering for multiple people, you know what I mean. If there are other people, I won’t get in line until I know what I need but even with that some places/staff will rush you- not the case here, she was wonderful ! We ordered: Beef & cheese, beef/sweet plantain, shrimp, spinach & cheese, strawberry cheesecake & guava & cheese. They were packaged perfectly, with cute little Puerto Rican flags indicating the flavors. The dessert empanadas were in separate containers. Nice!
Hands down the best empanadas I’ve had in a while. They were fresh, flavorful, crisp (not hard or greasy) & stuffed full. None were over $5 most were $3.69, the choice fillings & amount inside made them reasonably priced. We shared most of them wanting to try all of the fillings and my favorites were: the beef & cheese- so much flavor and not overly cheesy=perfection, the spinach and cheese was epic -all of us thought it tasted like broccoli cheese bites so tender and gooey no harsh spinach flavor, I believe fresh spinach not canned or frozen (which I despise). My most favorite was the guava & cheese it was better than the ones I had in Puerto Rico. The guava was sweet & a little tart & perfectly balanced the creamy sweetness of the cheese and again the shell was tender, crispy and perfectly fried. We haven’t stopped talking about these empanadas!
I (& my fam) highly recommend this restaurant. My only suggestions would be to add homemade drink choices perhaps horchata de ajonjolí or chicha de piña. They do have standard soda offerings, malta & water but personally I love to have the full experience when eating certain cuisines.i.e Thai milk tea with Thai, agua frescas or Jarritos with Mexican food etc. I would most definitely order homemade drinks, if offered. Secondly, I think adding another vegetarian choice would be great, unless I am mistaken the only vegetarian empanada was the spinach and cheese. Other than that, this place is amazing from the great customer service, cost, to the many options & finally to the outstanding food, 10/10 would recommend. I/we will be going back!

me and my boyfriend went there the other day last minute without realizing it was closed but very nicely of them they let us in and showed us around and was very sweet, cool, down to earth people and made us feel right at home. the service was fast and the food was amazing it really hit the spot for sure! they had karaoke bar set up and it was awesome, i highly recommend this spot! amazing food and great vibes ☺️

My mom and I have been struggling to find authentic PR style empanadas ever since we moved from New Jersey! We found Melina’s on Google and we were blown away. Melina the owner was super kind, and turns out she’s from Jersey too!
For everything we got, the price point and quality of our food was amazing (Around $22 give or take for 4 empanadas, fresh juice and yuca fries) it’s super cute and spacious inside too. Loved the music they played! It felt like I was back up north at one of my favorite spots 🙂
