Had take out Saturday 2/7/2026, 2 orders of chicken fried rice. The chicken was the most horrible thing I ever see, it was refried like 5 times, dry and hard with no taste. Couldn’t even eat the meat which was so brown and hard and the oil soaked in. The rice had no flavor. I don’t know what the eat-in taste like or if it’s the same refried chicken.

To the owner, you can do better than this with your take out foods.

Arguably the best roti I’ve had in the city! I got the shrimp curry with roti and it was off the charts. Exceptionally friendly and fast service, will definitely be back!

This spot is really nice. If you want some tasty satisfying Caribbean food with some good drinks and music this is the place. Food is always fresh. The staff are all so nice. It’s a nice vibe and lowkey spot if you don’t want to be around too many people but still enjoy yourself. I had the Lo mein fried rice and jerk chicken. Chicken nice and tender. The coconut margaritas were nice and hit the spot, gave a nice buzz off two. Their pepper sauce is bomb. Nice hint of flavor and spice.

Ordered from this spot on a whim and very happy I did! I got the duck and it was very flavorful and tender, the sauce was almost jerk like but curry like at the same time, definitely recommend ✨

EDIT/UPDATE: Melanie’s has sadly stopped selling their doubles. I don’t know why This is a food tragedy, especially since it’s a been pregnancy craving of mine! Food remains 5/5, jt overall starts have dropped to 4/5 just because of the missing doubles.

I know this will not make me a fan amongst our Brooklyn brothers and sisters, but the Melanies Doubles BEATS TRINCITI!!! They’re huge, tasty, and that mango chutney cannot be beat!

I can’t remember the last time I had a lunch special under $10, but most of theirs are under 9 with a choice of soda or water!

Please try:
-Doubles
-Fried Snapper with Rice and Dahl
-Curry Chicken and Rice
-Jerk Chicken and Fried Rice

The staff is incredibly friendly, the beer is cold, and the spices are hot! I can’t speak for takeout, but go get yourself some Melanie’s!

We came here yesterday to try the roti. The restaurant itself is clean and well maintained. We waited a little while because we didn’t order ahead, but that just ensured us that the meal was being cooked fresh! The curry chicken was so good, lots of fresh seasonings and the meat was cooked tender to perfection. The roti itself yummy, we will definitely be back.

Today was my first visit. I ordered jerk chicken with rice and beans. The chicken is spicy (like I like it) and the rice is soft. The chicken was all dark meat which I didn’t mind either. I also had a whisky sour and margarita while I waited. They have happy hour on Sundays (although the whisky sour didn’t qualify.) This was worth the 15 minute walk from home in my new neighborhood. I’ll be back. Note: I ate half of the chicken before taking the picture.
