The food: A large group of us came in and ordered various different platters. I personally ordered the spinach, goat cheese scramble and it was below mediocre. The eggs were dry and bland, the toast was hard and their creamy potatoes were ok. Coming from the south, my friend ordered the chicken fried steak and it was nothing like a real chicken fried steak and they gave no warning about that. The steak wasn’t even battered. I hate to give such a bad review, but it is just the truth. And I hope the restaurant can take this criticism because there can be some potential.
The price: With the outrageous prices I expect really high quality food. I’ve gone to many different breakfast places in Portland and there are far better in price and quality.
The workers: The servers were super kind and informative so I appreciate that. I have nothing against the people working there as they were just doing their job.

Me and a friend’s first time enjoying Mehri’s Cafe and it was delicious! I drove by it at first, the restaurant is small and building quaint.
I had the Mehri’s scramble (no mushrooms) and hot tea. My friend had the breakfast burrito and a latte.
They had real honey for my tea, which is a huge plus in my book, and my friends latte had a perfect heart on top, in addition to being super yummy. Both of our dishes were flavorful and made well, no notes!
The service was impeccable with multiple people checking on us throughout our meal. The food was too good to snap a photo but we brought home a couple of pastries! No doubt they’ll be as good as everything else.

Mehri’s made a beautiful cake for my sisters birthday and even let me pick it up on a day they’re not open. Best prices compared to other bakeries I called, great customer service, and cake tasted delicious. Definitely coming back here.

Love Mehri and her cafe! Been coming here when it was just a bakery. Mehri made the cakes for my wedding over 20 years ago – she and her food were amazing then and still are! Best pie crust around! The scrambles, the potatoes, the chicken fried steak, all of it. And we never can leave without a pastry and pie for the road.

Stopped in for the first time this morning for a couple of lattes to go— just moved to the neighborhood and really appreciated them being here! The person who was working was super friendly and extremely attentive. I was really happy with all of the vegan and non-dairy milk options. The prices were very reasonable as well. A few vegan meal options would be fantastic! I will definitely be back soon.

I wish I lived closer so I could go here every day for breakfast or lunch. Baked goods look like they are really made with love. Food comes out hot, expertly done, and well portioned. Flavors are very traditional but super good. The cafe has a small entrance area but that makes sense since you should come in and sit down. But a pastry to go. Future you will thank you.

Sad to say, but I had food poisoning shortly after eating here. I had one of the specials. The food looked clean and fresh. Maybe the griddle? I don’t know. The food tasted fine, just be careful because my stomach could handle almost anything and it took a full 24 hours to recover. Lastly, the prices are really high for the quality.

Mehris made a custom cake for my daughters gender reveal and she did such an amazing job on it. It turned out exactly how we wanted it and the cake and frosting was to die omg so good . Thank you mehris. And all the food she makes is home made from scratch this lady knows how to not only bake but she can cook too. Ive been going here for about 20 years now

It may look like your average neighborhood cafe and bakery and Mehri’s is anything but! A neighborhood gem indeed. Don’t judge a house by its color.
My mom told me about this place many years ago and raved about all the deserts. After looking at reviews and reading the news paper article I was more intrigued.
We were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma. The pastrie case was definitely eye candy. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 12:00 pm) and we managed to snag a table.
Anthony (the son of Mehri’s was incredibly helpful and accommodating) I had such a hard time deciding and he recommended the country breakfast that I turned into a country benedict I also tried a half order of the croissant french toast and mom got the breakfast sandwich.
*Bacon on point 10/10
We even got to meet the owner and it was a pleasure, I am looking forward to going back to this quaint and cozy cafe and bakery.

The food was good and it was a cute little shop but the service was really off. The older lady running around was extremely nice and helped us get settled waiting for a table which only took about 5 minutes! Then we were seated at a split 4 person table with about a foot of space in- between the couple that arrived after us and then was sat before us… next to each other. Our order was taken, ordered 2 Bloody Mary’s that never showed up… the couple next to us also never received the Bloody Mary they ordered and never showed up. Our waitress then went on break and took our food order with her…. When the owner asked us where our food was we explained what we ordered and she apologized and comped us a blueberry scone. The drinks still never arrived and the order they brought us had meat on it and wasn’t what we ordered. All in all they comped one of the meals because I asked for a to-go box as soon as the food arrived. Still waiting for that Bloody Mary though…
