First time here,
Dosas are really good…
we need to order the food at kiosk ANDDDDD give the receipt in the counter THEN collect the TOKEN. AFTER that they will call your token number NOT the receipt number ♂️.
PLEASE put a note at the kiosk or please print it on the receipt.
Be patient if you order dosa, 80 out of 100 orders will be dosas only…

They ran out of food, even staples such as dosai or idli. The only dosai we got was stale. Saw the kitchen frying frozen dough, either tortilla or chapati, and served as poori. Have been to other temple cafeterias across the country and this is the worst food and worst managed cafeteria.

The food is bad. We got spoiled food( chutney ). The response for the complaint is bad, even there is a bald guy, refusing to replace the spoiled food.

I had an incredible experience at Meenakshi Temple Canteen! The food was absolutely amazing and felt like a true taste of authentic Indian cuisine. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked, bringing me back to the vibrant food culture of India. The canteen offers a wide variety of options, all of which are reasonably priced, making it an excellent choice for anyone craving delicious Indian food without breaking the bank. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for great food and a true Indian dining experience!

So sorry to read reviews complaining about this canteen that is meant only to serve the devotees visiting the temple. This facility is managed by volunteers sacrificing their personal time, hence should not be viewed as paid staff nor should the canteen be viewed as a commercial establishment.

I have been to this temple since 7 years and the food of the canteen had changed drastically. we have ordered plain dosa, masala dosa, my sore masala dosa and puri. dosa batter is not fresh and we can feel the the batter was ripen and i don’t know how chef is making these dosa. As a chef its his responsibility if it taste good or not. Puri is ok but the oil used for puri smell bad. over all i would not recommend eating any breakfast especially if the crowd size is large. Menu is also very limited when we have larger crowd size.

Below average restaurant with food tasting like boiled water with spices and extremely limited menu. Very long waiting times on simple things like Dosa which comes out very oily with probably used oil since it leaves a scratchy throat. The service person at counter is extremely unprofessional and rude. They used to have unlimited sambhar (even though it taste bad) but even that option is gone only one small sambhar now, with prices raised to restaurant levels and no service at all. Dirty floor and dirty tables (you can eat one week and still come back next week to see same dried food spilled on table), long waiting, zero serving staff except rude and slow counter people. Do yourself a favor by not degrading yourself by visiting this so called restaurant which is only focused on making maximum profit by raising prices with zero service or taste. Can post pictures of extremely dirty tables , floors, restrooms if you would like.

If you have South Indian taste buds, this review & this cafeteria might lead you to some disappointment.
We ordered about 8 dishes, totaling around $55. Unfortunately, the experience fell short across the board.
The idly was hard, the vada had a sour aftertaste, and both the sambar and chutneys were sub-par and lacked flavor. The poori sabji was underwhelming, with a bland sabji, while the tamarind rice lacked salt, and the curd rice was just passable.
The only item that stood out was the aloo bonda, which was decent, but only if eaten without the accompanying sambar and chutneys. The mango lassi was okay as well.

This used to be a pretty good place to eat, but unfortunately the quality of food served has steadily declined over the past couple of years. Visiting the temple frequently, we always thought the canteen would suffice for our food needs, but of late we always plan for food elsewhere. The sides for dosa/ poori are sub par, and the rice served seems like coloured rice and not flavoured. Lemon rice without lemon but only turmeric and salt to give an example. Most recent visit in March 2025.

Food is delicious. We can get all sorts of South Indian breakfast items for most of the weekends. Dedicated volunteers are continuously providing their valuable time and giving their best. Kiosks are not that great, but it’s serving the purpoze.
