This plate was hittin’! The fried catfish was seasoned just right—crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. That crunch had me hooked with every bite. The mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor, just like how grandma used to make it. And those collard greens? Whew! Perfectly cooked with that slow-simmered, southern taste that pulls the whole meal together.
Everything tasted fresh and was well-balanced. Definitely a soul food plate that brought comfort and satisfaction. 10/10—would order again!

Honestly I have no idea if this was a bad night for them or what but the food I got tonight absolutely does NOT match what these other reviews say. First time trying them and I will never go back. The potato salad is mush and tastes horrible. Everything else lacks flavor at all. Bland like no seasoning was used and I know seasoning I’m a chef. They also charged way more than the menu said. $80 for this! What a rip off.

I visited this restaurant after hearing great things. I ordered fried whiting with Mac and cheese and collard. I was enjoying the food until I wasn’t. While I was eating my collard greens, what I was initially thought was a piece of seasoning turned out to be a BABY ROACH. I’m so disgusted and I have no words.

I went to Meeks for the first time today. I got pork ribs, chicken wings, collard greens, green bean and cornbread. Everything was absolutely fantastic. I mean really really good soul food. Run don’t walk and get there. (I am a Berlin guy who picked up a soul food habit while working in Hartford in the late 1980s – this is the real deal).

The food was delicious, especially the Mac and cheese. We had the fried chicken entree and the spicy tenders. Both were well spiced, meat was tender but the outside crunchy. Would definitely recommend!

I want to take the time & spread the love to Meeks heavenly hands !! it is a clean, neat, very friendly, & welcoming restaurant. I was very happy with the yams, Mac n cheese, greens, & whiting fish. Me & my family had a beautiful experience, never any issues meek always took good care of us. Thank you so much Meek !!!!!!

I really wanted to love this place. The people were nice at first. Ordered my food got home about 40 minutes later and opened it.
First thing I see is a piece of hair. I figured no big deal they’re kin folk.slid to the side and there was a longer piece of hair.
I called the owner right away and she asked me to send her pictures. She said she wears a bonnet. I said ok well I have locs and also wearing a bonnet and my husband is bald so it’s not our hair. She said she always checks the food before she packs it. Again it’s not my hair. I asked if she wanted the food back she said no throw it away and she will give me back the money.
And hour later she calls me back from her husband’s phone very rude telling me it’s not her hair again and it looks like it’s placed on top.
ATP I told her shes unprofessional and just didn’t want to refund me. I appreciate good food but it wasn’t good and the hair made me sick to stomach.
And for the money I paid I should be acknowledged and apologized to but they were just again ignorant.
I will also be uploading my photos on here and IG to warn others.

I ordered the chicken with candied yams and mac & cheese on the side. IT WAS SO GOOD! The candied yams are the perfect amount of sweet and the chicken came hot and crispy. The Mac & cheese was also very good.
